The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we wind down the '23 calendar and look towards the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season by taking a look at some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. This group of players is pulled directly from our '24 Rankings. They remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior seasons.
We invite you to get to know them through their data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture of what colleges will get when a player steps onto their campus.
Today, we look at '24 C John Handy who is ranked 107th in the '24 class from Woodcreek High School. Handy has been a consistently strong performer in each of PBR California's looks at him, plus shows the athletic and data metrics that should catch college coaches eyes. Physical well built at 6' 190 lbs. who is a good athlete, moves well (6.87 60 runner) plus the ability to stick at a premium defensive position behind the plate with 80 MPH arm velo and 1.93 - 2.07 pop times from a clean transfer with online accuracy to the bag. Once he steps in the box Handy continues to impress with 85.8 MPH bat speed with quick hands at 21.5 MPH all combined to reach exit velocities at 96.8 MPH (max) and 90.9 MPH (avg). He stays balanced in his swing and uses his hands well to keep the barrel in the hitting zone very well. Handy is going to be a good late grab for a college program.
