The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '24 C Adrian Macias out of Carlsbad High School in San Diego. With a sturdy and physical frame at 5'11 190 lbs. with some present strength to him Macias looks the part of a durable backstop at the next level. With a small load into his back hip and good forward move Macias is on time to the launch position consistently while flashing good use of his lower 1/2 sinking into the back knee with a strong turn of the hips and good hand speed (21.9 mph). The approach is geared to work the middle of the field with line drive plane to the backside and flashing leverage with carry to the pullside of the field. Arm works cleanly behind the plate with a quick transfer, good footwork that gets online to throw and accuracy to his throws playing on the bag or to the first base side consistently. Shows good actions with his hand in receiving while presenting good mobility in his hips to be a solid average defensive catcher. Flashes versatility with good fundamentals on the INF dirt. Feet are solid with good hands and the arm action to play 3B or 2B in addition to catcher. Macias profiles as a solid defensive catcher with some versatility while adding an offensive profile that will provide depth and potential impact to the back side of a college lineup. Good name for 4-year and JUCO coaches to follow at a premium defensive spot for the '24 class through the spring.
College coaches and fans be sure to click on Macias' profile to see full video and statistics.
