The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '24 C/3B Emmet Desmond from Santa Cruz High School. With an athletic frame at 6'1 185 lbs. with some present wiry strength and solid athletic ability Desmond is an interesting player for a variety of tools. His athletic ability helps him to be a versatile defender who shows potential play two impact defensive positions at C/3B. Behind the plate he shows a clean transfer around belly button height with consistency and a quick arm flashing online accuracy to his throws (2.08- 2.15 pop time range) while receiving/blocking well to project him to stay there. Desmond though presents an interesting profile at 3B where he moves well with good feet, soft smooth hands, a feel to play laterally/downhill and an accurate average arm (81 MPH INF velocity) for the position. With a balanced quick RH swing which shows impact (96.6 MPH max exit velocity with an average 92.7 MPH exit velocity) there is middle of the order potential for him. He shows good ability leverage his swing path for consistent lift with hard contact that will show HR power to the LCF/LF side of the field (max distance at 374'). His ability to handle 2 high profile defensive positions with power potential in the order should give 4-year and JUCO college programs reason to keep their eyes on Desmond over the spring '24 season at Santa Cruz High School.
