The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '24 1B/3B Justin Sechler at Serra High School. At 6'1 175 lbs with wiry present strength to his frame and solid average athleticism Sechler is an intriguing uncommitted corner infield prospect who could profile in LF. His swing shows good hand speed at 22.5 MPH with 74 MPH bat speed and flashes fringe above average power with a 95.2 MPH max exit velocity with ability to hit the baseball hard consistently with an avg. 91.7 MPH exit velocity. The approach uses a leg lift with quiet hands and a good feel for getting to the launch position on time. He stays balanced in his lower half with balance and lets his upper body/hands work through the baseball with lift in his path showing LCF/LF line carry up to 358' feet. There is a good feel for finding the barrel and Sechler has a chance to consistently hit while adding impact as a corner profile player. He moves well at 1B with good feet and the hands are solid, as well he is confident around the bag with good athletic ability which could make him a potential above average defender at 1B with enough intrigue to try 3B or LF. As 4-year colleges and JUCO programs are keeping eyes on players to finish their '24 class Sechler is a good offensive option to keep eyes on.
