Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway with the Southern Section, Los Angeles City Section and San Diego Section all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.
This weeks Southern Section match up features two programs off to very strong starts in Murrieta Valley and Great Oak. The two will matchup for a 3 game league series that will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thurday with alternating home sites. First game and third games will be hosted at Great Oak with the middle game being at Murrieta Valley.

Game Preview: Great Oak enters the game ranked #20 in the Prep Baseball California power 25 rankings and feature 4 D1 commits in prominent places across their lineup and pitching rotation. Murrieta Valley roared out to a strong start of the spring heading into this matchup. Both teams have their eyes set on the top spot in the Southwestern League. Murrieta Valley is lead by a pitching staff which has thrown the baseball very well to start the year which has allowed 5 runs or less in 8 games, 3 runs or less in 6 of those games and has 3 shutuots to start the year. The Nighthawks will be tasked with keeping down a powerful Wolfpack offense lead by Gavin Fien, Dylan Fien, Reagan Ricken and Kaysen Raineri who are having strong starts to the spring with an emerging sophomore Kaleb Barnett and senior Nate Smith both swinging hot bats. Great Oak as a team is hitting .322 with a .500 slugging percentage while scoring 51 runs. Far from an offense only team the Wolfpack has allowed just 11 runs total in 8 games with 5 shutouts on the season including 4 in a row. The 3 game series is sure to feature several good pitching performances across the two teams staffs.
