Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway with the Southern Section, Los Angeles City Section and San Diego Section all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks San Diego Section matchup features a Prep Baseball California Power 25 tilt with the #14 St. Augustine Saints taking on the #16 Granite Hills Eagles as part of a non-league tournament.

Game Preview:  An early season tournament matchup will pit two of the top programs in the San Diego area directly against each other. Each program features multiple D1 commits on their rosters and several talented uncommitted players of note. St. Augustine is highlighted by a pitching staff which has been dominant so far to start the spring slate with a team ERA at 2.13 with 49 K's in 46 IP. The spotlight shines bright on '25 RHP Grayson Boles a Texas commit who has thrown 8 innings so far with 11 K's while Oregon commit Tyler Wick has been strong out of the pen with two saves, 4.1 IP and 5 K's to go with a 1.62 ERA. The Saints offense has three players headlining it presently with '25 C Shane Miranda a Notre Dame commit hitting .444 with 3 doubles, 6 BB and 3 RBI's, '25 Drake Konja is hitting .571 with a double, a triple and 2 BB's, '24 CF Justin Heffler the St. Mary's commit is hitting .455 with 10 RBI's, 3 doubles, 2 HR's and 10 stolen bases. The Granite Hills offense features a pair of hot hitting INF's in '25 Brenden Lewis who is an ASU commit hitting .350 with 4 RBI's, 4 runs scored, 1 HR and 2 stolen bases while '25 Phillip Jones is red hot at .562, SLG 1.250 with 5 doubles, 2 HR's (7 of his 9 hits are extra base hits), 11 RBI's and 3 runs scored. The Eagles themselves feature another dominant pitching staff with a team ERA at 1.90, 49 K's in 48 IP. '25 Brenden Lewis and '24 Chandler Henry are off to electric starts with 1.67 and .93 ERA's respectively while punching out 14 and 17 batters. This matchup has the potential to be an outstanding display of dominant pitching, but with the talented bats across each teams lineups don't be surprised if there are some offensive fireworks.
