Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway with the Southern Section, Los Angeles City Section and San Diego Section all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks Southern Section slate features a full slate of strong matchups which made it difficult to select just one game in the Southern Section slate so for the 2nd week in a row we are going with co-games of the week. First, we have a Baseline League series between a pair of 11-4 programs as league play enters its second week with Los Osos facing off against Upland. Our second game of the week is a matchup of two power programs out of the Mission and Trinity Leagues who are ranked amongst the top 5 by Prep Baseball California with Harvard Westlake facing off against Orange Lutheran.

Game Preview:  The pair of 11-4 teams enter the series with just 3 league games under their belt which means there is a lot of Baseline League play ahead of them, but each has their eyes on a league title run. The Grizzlies feature a dynamic offense with 4 regulars hitting over .400 over 15 games into the season with JR Hunter Meyer off to an electric start sitting at .569 with 26 RBI's, 6 doubles, 2 triples and 3 HRs already this spring while SO Wyatt Mohler is hitting at a .489 clip with 7 2Bs, 16 runs scored, JR SS Roberto Topete has started his spring off with a .412 avg and finally SR Mason Overacker stands right at .400 entering the 3 game set. Grizzlies pitchers are fronted by SR LHP Aidan Cube and JR RHP Reagan Samples who both have over 22 innings pitched on the spring with identical 4-1 records while Cube sports a 1.25 ERA with 26 punchouts and Samples sits at 2.47 with his ERA, finally SO Gavin Loeb-Keene rounds out the Grizzlies rotation. Upland has a solid offense, but their pitching staff has steered the program towards their 11-4 start having allowed just 33 runs in 15 games with an impressive 8 shutouts in their 15 games played, in 3 of their other 7 games have allowed just 2 or 1 run and no team has scored more than 5 runs against the Scots in the '24 season so far.

Game Preview:  This will be the second match up of the spring for these two powerhouse programs as Orange Lutheran won a tightly contested 4-3 semi-final game for the Prep Baseball California Spring Invitational on their way to winning the tournament. Both teams enter the match up featuring dynamic players spread across their rosters with D1 commits and rising uncommitted talents. Orange Lutheran features a starting lineup that can start 9 D1 commits at each position highlighted by SR OF's Derek Curiel, Ben Reiland, Finnegan Stewart & Nate Savoie with SR SS Gabe Fraser fronting the firepower. As well the Lancers arerunning out multiple strong arms on the mound in SR. Vinny Hudson, SO. Gary Morse, SR. Nolan Tillitt, JR. Colt Peterson & SR. Brady Strohm to look to stymie the Wolverines. While Harvard Westlake will counter with multiple D1 commits on the mound highlighted by SR RHP Duncan Marsten and SR SS/RHP closer Bryce Rainer with a depth of quality uncommitted arms behind them especially in JR RHP Jackson Alex, SO RHP Jake Chung, SR RHP Jacob Magna and rising FR RHP Justin Kirchner.
