Ventura, Calif-
After seeing nearly 200 of the top players in the state of California across our SoCal Preseason All State Upper/Under class events and NorCal Preseason All State event we are taking a look a back at some of the top uncommitted players to know by position.
Players at each event participated in a showcase-style workout with athletic testing, on field batting practice, defensive workouts, and bullpen sessions. During the workout portion of the event players had the opportunity to let their tools shine on video and build their database of metrics through Prep Baseball California's use of Swift Technologies, Blast Motion swing trackers, and Trackman technology for batted ball data and pitch tracking. While in our SoCal event the players competed in a controlled scrimmage with game play after the showcase workout.
We continue by looking at the standout uncommitted 2-way players from the 3 events. The 10 names on this list (not in any order) represent some of the top names to know in the state of California.
Brief overview of the players skills is included, but college coaches and fans can click link on their name to view their full Prep Baseball profile for more in-depth information on these players.

Gavin Egan OF / RHP / Aquinas , CA / 2025Egan is a good athlete across the board who shows the skill set to not only be an impact Outfielder who has CF potential with the arm strength to handle RF. A smooth hitter with a good feel for what he is doing in the box and a gap to gap approach. Plus a solid arsenal on the mound with a feel for 3 pitches and the body control to be able to impact a college pitching staff. |
Evan Alexander RHP / SS / Brentwood School, CA / 2026Alexander flashes advanced stuff on the mound with a FB/SLD combo that both flash above average to potential plus action and feel for a CB. With good athletic ability he has starter potential on the mound, but the actions and feel for what he does as a position player that he could be a 2-way MIF prospect who can be a leverage reliever. |
Kai'nalu Van Scoyoc SS / RHP / Palos Verdes High, CA / 2026Flashes legitimate ability as a SS who has impact in his RH bat with power potential to all field and the actions/athletic ability to be an above average defender up the middle. Then he steps on the mound with the arm action, feel for his arsenal and the quality of the stuff to be a potential starting pitcher going forward. Realistic ability on each side of the game with a bright future ahead. |
Jose Ortega RHP / OF / Calexico High, CA / 2026A loud toolset with true ability as a RH pitcher with a starters frame, body control, arm action and 3-pitch mix with a pair of devastating offspeed offerings in his SLD/SPLT combo to go with a good FB. But, don't mark the highly talented Ortega as just a pitcher because there is real impact in his RH bat with HR power and the feel for what he does in the box to be a middle of the order force while handling a corner OF spot. Interesting overall player with a high ceiling. |
Seth Coria LHP / OF / Santiago, CA / 2025An athletic LH pitcher who shows good arm strength, the feel for his offspeed and athletic ability that gives you a feeling he could be a high quality LH starter going forward. But, the impact ability in his LH bat with ability to play a corner OF spot should give college programs a good reason to strongly consider Coria for what he can do on both sides of the game. |
Cole Hoffman OF / RHP / Del Norte, CA / 2025There is an interesting set of skills for the LH hitting Hoffman as an OF prospect who shows a clean swing with impact to the middle of the field and the ability to play an OF corner. While adding in the pitch mix, delivery and feel for what he does on the mound to be a quality addition to a college pitching staff. |
Gino Cappellazzo C / 3B / St. Francis, CA / 2026Cappellazzo has a loud overall package with the tools, physicality and ability as a RH hitter who could have easily made the C and Corner INF uncommitted lists on just those profiles. But, then with his ability on the mound including an advanced pitch arsenal with a good feel for his delivery and the frame to be a highly touted pitching prospect on just his ability there. When you combine the 2-way potential for Cappellazzo he has a very bright future. |
Kaden Nicholls LHP / 1B / Bear River, CA / 2026Nichols ran out one of the best pitching performances on the day and with being a LH pitcher he will garner plenty of looks from college programs come Aug. 1st, 2024. The FB is up to 87.8 MPH with CHG, CB, SPLT offspeed mix and feel for each offering makes an interesting starter profile. But, he adds a quality LH bat with pull side thump and a good feel for hitting while adding in the actions to be an above average defender at 1B. Nicholls should be a name on many college programs '26 recruiting board. |
Damien Nolan RHP / 3B / St. Mary's College Prep, CA / 2027Nolan is an advanced young RH pitcher who showed feel for a FB touching the mid 80's presently while adding in a CB, SLD, CHG offspeed mix with each pitch flashing potential. The delivery works with a good arm action that Nolan has starter potential going forward. While adding in a potent RH bat with interesting present power and the room to continue adding more with the actions/arm strength to stick at 3B going forward. |
Donnie Rinkor SS / 2B / Analy, CA / 2026Rinkor has a good overall package off tools with the actions to stick on the INF long term while adding in a quality RH bat which shows a good feel for hitting and the ability to drive the ball through the middle of the field consistently. He has feel for a 3 pitch mix and the athletic ability in his delivery/arm action to pay attention to his future on the mound. |
