Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway including the Northern sections all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks match up from NorCal will feature the De La Salle Spartans from the East Bay League matching up against the Palo Alto Vikings from the De Anza League. Both programs enter the year with high expectations for their overall team success and will be headlined by some elite NCAA D1 commits. The Spartans are the defending CIF-NCS D1 Champions while Palo Alto who has won 7 League championships in the last 9 years is looking to build on their 2023 CIF-CCS D3 Playoff appearance.

Game Preview:  De La Salle features a very talented and deep roster with multiple D1 commits and one of the top uncommitted '25s in the country in Alec Blair who is also a very talented basketball player. The Spartans are off to a quick start this year winning their first two contests of the season heading into this match up with the Vikings. Palo Alto has been one of the most dominant programs in their regions for the better part of a decade and boast one of the best '24 MLB draft prospects in the country in Stanford commit SS Charlie Bates. While the Spartans enter fresh off a CIF Championship season they are not resting on their laurels and are looking to make another strong push towards a repeat title and this early season match up against the Vikings will be a strong litmus test for the strengths/weaknesses heading forward. The Vikings themselves have started the season off well with a 2-1 start and a 2nd place finish in the Hazlett Tourney with a hard fought loss to the Prep Baseball nationally #38 and California ranked #6 ranked Valley Christian program. The Vikings will be well tested again with this match up against the Spartans as the look towards the start of De Anza league play.
