Game Preview:  The Conquistadores are off to an electric start in all facets of the game sitting at 19-1 on the year, undefeated in the CCAA-Mountain league and their pitching staff has been nearly impossible to score up allowing only 24 runs in 20 games this spring while their lineup has produced 124 runs. For their part the St. Joseph's program is playing outstanding baseball sitting at 6-2 in CCAA-Mountain play while 112 runs on the spring and allowing 69 runs over the 2024 season. Cabrillo's offense is lead by 4 players who are hitting over .300 on the spring including a pair of '25s both over .400 on the spring in Gregory & Kiesling. Gregory has blasted 3 HR's to lead the Conquistadores while Kiesling's 26 RBIs are tops on the team. With a staff ERA of .75 for the spring you can throw a dart at the Cabrillo staff and hit a pitcher having an outstanding spring, but SR. arms Gallimore and Mattis front the staff. Gallimore has thrown 52 innings and struck 70 hitters while sporting a .81 ERA with 6 wins & 6 complete games. Mattis though has topped his performance going 66 innings with 78 punchouts, .53 ERA, 10 wins to 0 losses and a stellar 5 complete games. Gregory for his part has been strong on the mound with 5 innings pitched and 12 Ks out of the Conquistadores pen. The Knights have received strong springs on the offensive side from several players, but feature 5 regulars hitting over .300 with 3 of them over .400. '26 Chanley has taken the varsity level by storm hitting at .464 so far this spring with SR. Stollberg and JR. Peinado both sitting over .400 late in the spring. JR. Furness has hit to a tune of .375 so far while leading the Knights with 4 HRs while Stollberg tops them with 24 RBIs. On the bump the future Westmont Warrior Hammond has been the workhorse for the Knights throwing 56.1 innings, striking out 65, with a 2.11 ERA and 4 wins. Peinado has been a 2-way standout this spring throwing 35.2 innings with 42 Ks adding 4 wins of his own to the Knights total of 11 this spring. For the Knights to close the gap in the CCAA-Mountain league race their offense will need to find a way to crack through against the outstanding pitching of the Conquistadores while finding a way to slow down their strong offense.
