Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway including the Northern sections all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This weeks match up from NorCal Sac-Joaquin Section Game of the Week features a Tri-City Athletic League opening series betweeen a pair of 8-4 programs in the Lodi Flames taking on the St. Mary's Rams with each programs looking towards a potential league title run.

Game Preview:  Both programs are opening up TCAL play coming off different previous weeks with St. Mary's losing a pair of games while Lodi has won back to back games. The Flames feature a SR heavy roster with several of their SR's off to strong starts in their last high school campaigns with Plath leading the way including a .385 average while Godina is just behind him at .333 with 3 2Bs and 1 triple and Brassesco checks in at a .303 clip for the Flames offense. JR. hurler Fichtner fronts a strong Flames pitching staff with a .66 ERA over 21.1 innings with 43 punchouts so far this spring in 3 starts while the other 2 starters for the Flames are Godina who is sitting at 1.24 with his ERA over 22.2 innings with 29 punchouts and SR. Vance Haskins checks in with a 3.23 ERA in 21.2 IP with 25 punchouts. The Rams lineup is headlined by super SO. Dax Hardcastle the #3 ranked player in the 2026 by Prep Baseball California who is showing why early in the spring season hitting at .371 clip with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 1 HR while adding in 4 K's in 2 innings pitched on the mound so far. St. Mary's SO. LHP Nico Bavaro is off to an excellent start on the bump with a 2-0 record, 0.00 ERA in 14.2  innings pitched with 26 punchouts while JR LHP Tanner Grove also sports a 2-0 record with a .71 ERA in 19.2 innings pitched while punching out 29, finally SR. hurler Michael Quedens has thrown 16 innings with 27 punchouts and sports a .88 ERA himself. The talented bats of the Flames will be well tested by the Rams trio of starters with bullpen depth over the course of the series while the Rams offense will look to gain traction against the talented Flames pitching staff. The winner of this series will put themselves in a strong position for a run at the TCAL title.
