LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball hosted the latest edition of its prestigious Future Games and Junior Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent.
And for the first time ever, the Future Games hosted not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who participated in the inaugural Senior Future Games.
On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing the 2025, 2026, and 2028 grad classes participated in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches - over 425 in total - alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.
Today, we continue spotlighting the uncommitted talent who made up Team California at the 2024 Future Games. Next, we take a look at '26 SS/2B Jack Champlin of St. John Bosco High School. A wiry athletic 6' 155 lbs. SS prospect who showed off his defensive prowess both during the workout and in game play. As well, Champlin flashes some interesting offensive upside with quickness to his swing, bat to ball ability and a rising skill set at the dish which gives him an intriguing ceiling.

Scouting Report
Jack Champlin, St. John Bosco High School (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/2B Athletic middle of the diamond defender who shows SS potential while adding quality bat to ball RH hitting approach
Body: 5-11, 143-pounds. Smaller lean frame with length and room to fill
Hit: RHH. Narrower set up with knees under shoulders and feet slightly wider has bend in his rear knee sitting weight slightly back on back leg with a straighter front leg. Minimal hip hinge in set up with hands set just above rear shoulder at same depth and off his body with low back elbow and barrel tipped forward over his head aimed at pitcher. Uses a forward move to get to a 50/50 balance position at launch with minimal hand load while staying on the taller side at launch. Bat path is direct to the ball with a flatter swing path generating more line drive leverage while maintaining his balance in the turn process. Relies more on the quickness of his hands and direct bat path than generating torque through the lower 1/2.
Power: Profiles currently as a high contact hitter with a middle of the field doubles approach who shows ability to elevate with impact to the pull side of the field with HR potential.
Arm: RH. INF-85 mph. Consistent transfer with arm working back and up to release from the ear, but does show ability to throw from different slots. Ball carries out of hand with accuracy profiles to handle SS.
Defense: Body control with good feet and easy actions moving around the INF dirt. Hands are soft with feel to play both 1 and 2 handed with confidence. Projects as SS potential defender.
ATH: Upright runner who builds speed as he goes with length and ease to his strides.
