LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball hosted the latest edition of its prestigious Future Games and Junior Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent.

And for the first time ever, the Future Games hosted not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who participated in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing the 2025, 2026, and 2028 grad classes participated in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches - over 425 in total -  alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Today, we continue spotlighting the uncommitted talent who made up Team California at the 2024 Future Games. Next, we take a look at another Future Games returner in '26 OF Ezekiel "Zeke" Lara from Mater Dei High School. The 5'11 187 lbs. Lara was a member of the 2023 Team California roster returned as part of the 2024 roster where he continued to show his intriguing offensive potential combined with athleticism. Lara had a opposite field single to drive in a run against Team Arizona while also stinging several other balls during game play while playing solid OF across all 3 positions.

Scouting Report

7/23/24

Ezekiel Lara, Mater Dei (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: OF LH hitting OF who shows polish at the plate with upside offensively and athleticism to play CF
Body: 5-11, 187-pounds. Medium sized frame with some present strength to it
Hit: LHH. Starts from a wider base with weight slightly shifted to his back leg from an even set up while having his hands set beyond the rear shoulder about the same height with lower back elbow and barrel wrapped slighlty behind his head. Slight shift back in his load coming up on the toes of his front foot while dropping his hands below his shoulders into a lower slot slightly behind his body. Once he drops the front heel and begins the turn of the swing his operation is quick in the hips, hands and bat path with tilt in his upper body at finish that helps to create leverage from the middle to pull side showing a consistent feel for finding the barrel of his bat.
Power: Bat path and feel for the barrel combined with simple quick operation flashes impact from the middle to pull side of the field. Power presently plays more as doubles with a lower 90's max EV, but there is pull side HR impact potentially and room to add more in the future.
Arm: RH. OF-82 mph. Longer arm stroke with full body involvement in his throwing motion. Is online consistently with carry to his throws.
Defense: Moves well with easy running actions and the speed to profile as CF defender.
ATH: Quick off the line with some length to his run strides while showing body control and ability to maintain speed.
