Aroz shined in the preseason at PBR California’s All-State event where the switch-hitting catcher made himself known as one of the top underclassmen in the state. Standing 5-foot-10, 160-pounds and still filling out, Aroz’s defensive ability behind the plate are impressive. He possesses loose hips and soft hands which help him as a quiet receiver, and his catch and throw abilities only make him that much better. He was clocked as low as 1.89 on throws to second base with smooth footwork and a quick transfer that allowed his 76 mph arm (from the crouch) to accurately play with carry. At the plate, he sets up more narrow and open from both sides before using a knee-knock stride as his hands push back. The barrel takes a flat path through the zone as he stays on the ball long, and showcases some current gap to gap power. His agility and athleticism is matched only by his motor, and while he looks like a future frontline catcher, he also has the movement and hands to play on the infield. Overall, Aroz is a player to follow closely moving forward, and could ultimately develop into an impact player at the next level.
