Scouting Report

QUICK TAKE

Currently #49 in the California 2020 State Rankings and a St. Mary's commit, Ayon showed why he's so highly touted as a two-way player during the Central Valley Preseason ID. An XL frame that's strong and explosive, Ayon showed off big bat speed and power driving pitches all around the field and over the fences from a loose, natural swing. His big arm was also on display with solid defensive actions and control of his body not seen by many 6'4" High School athletes. Scouts will want to take notice for the 2020 Draft as well.

SCOUTING REPORT

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Saint Mary's commit - XL frame with squared shoulders and current muscles showing strength throughout; very projectable with looseness in hips and shoulders and tight core. Tall, balanced stance with high hands and high back elbow showing strong posture; quick foot lift as hands stay, being quiet and starting to turn barrel onto plane. The body works in sequence as hands get on plane early and show explosive quickness through the zone finishing high with very strong backside. Showed the present power in his bat as he regularly drove the ball deep into gaps, off of and over the wall (94 exit velo). Smooth, controlled action in INF with large stride length and ability to get low hips while working through the ball; body moves well when coming to get the ball. Above average arm currently with flashes of Plus when working in 6 hole and really letting it loose (85 mph). One of the Top 2020 players in the entire state. Looks every bit the part of impact 2-way player at next level.
