SoCal Spring: Week 2 (Pitching)
April 9, 2021
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA-- The landscape of high school baseball across the country, in Covid times, is ever evolving with schedules both fluid and frustrating. Games are cancelled in an instant for precautionary measures, and players/coaches/fans have all quickly developed an intense ability to adapt and make the best of a difficult situation.
Even in the most trying of times, the baseball community continues to pick itself up.
You can always count on JSerra Catholic head coach, Brett Kay, to be at the top of the list when talking about people in the baseball community who continue to put the interest of the players ahead of themselves. Faced with plenty of obstacles and uncertainties, Kay hardly needed any more on his plate before putting together a quality tournament (across three levels nonetheless) to let the kids, who have scarcely been able to play in the state, compete in a pristine, well-spaced setting. The JSerra Classic brought together a plethora of talented programs and prospects, and served as kickoff to a new season while also attracting professional scouts who were also able to branch out to other sites and games.
So, kudos to Coach Kay and all those who helped put together such an outstanding event, and especially for continuing to give back to the game and help elevate the players involved.
