SoCal Players of the Week: Hayden Cody and Jayson Bittner

Congratulations to senior right handed pitcher Hayden Cody of Mission Viejo HS and junior pitcher Jayson Bittner of Rancho Mirage HS for earning PBR California SoCal Player of the Week honors. 

Cody, a Cal State Northridge signee, threw a no-hitter against Capistrano Valley Christian in the second round of the Newport Elks tournament. He registered 10 strikeouts with two HBP all on only 76 pitches. A three year varsity starter, Cody is primed for a big season after a season in which he maintained a 2.00 ERA despite having a losing overall record. 

Bittner threw his own no hitter on the seasons Opening Day registering 12 strikeouts while walking four batter. Bittner, a junior uncommitted pitcher, threw an impressive 59 of 99 pitches for strikes in his outing. After going 2-5 with a 2.68 ERA as a varsity starter last year, Bittner has made significant strides with his overall game that should lead to improved results this season. 

For their efforts last week Hayden Cody and Jared Jones have been named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Players of the Week for the week of Feb 15th - Feb 23rd. We salute their accomplishments and wish them and their teams continued success both on-and-off the field.
