LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - With Southern Section playoffs starting this week we have been privy to several clutch final league performances these last few weeks. Because of the amount of standout performances around the region choosing one player for our Player of the Week honor was quite difficult.  

Congratulations are in order for Junior Vincent Van der Wel out of Chaminade HS as he has been awarded the SoCal Player of the Week for the week of April 23rd - April 29th, 2023.

Vinny had a monster offensive week going 9-for-11 against Loyola where Chaminade ended up winning the series two games to one.  His 9-for-11 included 1 HR, 2 doubles, 7 runs, and 4 RBI. This huge offensive series put a stamp on a great junior campaign where he slashed .448/.525/.712. Vinny has a smooth LH swing where his loose/quick hands deliver a consistently accurate barrel (video-below). The big difference from him this spring has been the power he's tapped into where he hit 5 HRs this season. Defensively he plays all over the infield but he seemed to find a home at 3rd towards the end of the spring. After this standout spring he has solidified himself as a top uncommitted player in the state where he should get his fair share of attention as we head towards the summer. 

We salute Junior Vincent Van Der Wel on earning the Prep Baseball Report California SoCal Player of the Week.
