SoCal Player of the Week: 4/26-5/1

2023 1B Ralphy Velazquez of Huntington Beach HS, a player who is firmly entrenched in scouts minds moving towards his draft class, has been on fire of late for the 12-4 Oilers. In three games last week, Velazquez filled up the box score in a way he hadn’t done before. He went 8-for-9 with three home runs including a grand slam, a triple, a pair of doubles, a single, and 11 RBI, and a walk on the week. The hit tool has always been the carrying tool, but his defense at first base has improved to the level many anticipated/hoped it would entering the season. While we are still a couple of years away for Velazquez to be thinking about the MLB Draft, there’s no question that his tools will have the Arizona State commit firmly in the conversation.

For his outstanding performances last week, we congratulate Ralphy Velazquez of Huntington Beach HS for being named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Player of the Week for the week of April 26th - May 1st. We salute his accomplishments and wish he and his teammates continued success this spring.
