COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.
We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:
Steel Canyon is looking to bounce back from 2020 and kick 2021 off with more W’s on the schedule. Coach Evans sees this year’s Cougars as a Dark-Horse candidate for the League Title and thinks they can make a run at it as they bring back 7 starters from 2020 and 4 arms. Like most good baseball teams, Steel Canyon is talented up the middle, and that defense should be able to support their quality pitching depth this season. Athleticism and team speed will play that defense up as well, while also being a major boon to the offense. For this team to reach its ceiling, Coach Evans is counting on an incoming group of young players to step up and support their quality returners. They’ll be tested early and often and if the young guys make major leaps early in the season, that Dark-Horse prophecy won’t need much help coming to fruition.
