Northern CA Co-Players of the Week: 3/9-3/14/20

The season is well underway now in all the Northern CA sections and as such, we have begun accepting nominations for the weekly player of the week in the region. Coinciding with this initial selection for the award in 2020 is the pause in the season due to the ongoing precautionary health measures.

Senior OF Blake Tweedt of Red Bluff HS (uncommitted... somewhat inexplicably) had a massive week as Spartans went 3-1 in tournament action. His line for the week was 7-for-10 (2 HR, 3B, 3 BB, 6 RBI, 7 R). He homered vs Paradise HS and University Prep, both on Friday 3/13 then tripled vs Corning HS on Saturday 3/14. The extra hit prowess is very much real from what we saw of him at the Far North Preseason ID. Tweedt is a plus runner with a well-above average arm and offensive abilities to impact the game. Also highly notable was the week of his twin brother Bryce Tweedt (U of Nevada signee), who went 6-for-10 (HR, 3B, 2B, 2 BB, 8 RBI, 7 R)

Senior OF Keith Jones of Heritage HS (Washington State signee) had a big week as the Heritage Patriots earned two impressive wins vs quality opponents Roseville HS (8-1) and Vacaville HS (14-5).  On 3/7 at Roseville he went 1-for-3 (R, 2 RBI, 2B) at the plate and also threw out a runner at the plate. On 3/13 at Vacaville (two time defending Sac-Joaquin Section champ), Jones had a monster game, going 3-for-4 (3 R, 3 RBI, BB, 2 3B, SB), as well as another outfield assist. The Heritage Patriots are one of the top teams in the region and will contend for the North Coast Section D1 title, with Jones, as one of their numerous impact players, right in the middle of the team's success.

For their outstanding performances last week, we 2020 OFs Blake Tweedt & Keith Jones have been named the Prep Baseball Report Northern CA Co-Players of the Week for the week of March 9th - March 14th. We salute their accomplishments and we hope he and his teammates have the opportunity for continued success this spring.
