Norcal Player of the Week: Trevor Heyn

2019 SS Trevor Heyn of Pacific Grove HS has been named the PBR Northern California Player of the Week for April 29 - May 5, 2019. The Pacific Grove Breakers have been on quite a run lately. They presently are 20-4 (18-2 in PCAL - Mission) and are on a 13 game heater, which has people in the 831 talking about them as a CCS title contender. In the middle of this great season has been Heyn, a multiple year varsity starter/performer.

Last week the team went 3-0 as Heyn's contributions included going 6-for-9 at the plate with 4 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB, 2 2B, 3B, BB. The team posted two shutouts and up the middle there was the senior shortstop flawlessly handling nine defensive plays. For the season Heyn has hit .321, has knocked in 13 runs, scored 12 more, while swiping 6 bags in 6 attempts. He's walked 11 times (with 4 HBP) vs just 5 strikeouts all season. He's been a steady presence at shortstop all season.

California routinely has uncommitted seniors who are capable of playing four-year college baseball the following year but given the number of players here, sometimes there just aren't enough spots at the college programs in the state. We've seen Heyn a few times over the years (videos in his profile) and believe he's worth checking into for any programs that might still be in search of help up the middle.
