December 23, 2020
New Episode LIVE now! - At The Yard Podcast
ISLANDERS FIELD (LATHROP), CA. - The inaugural Northern California Rising Stars Showcase had 35 players take part in as players were put through traditional workout that included the 60-yard sprint, a round of batting practice, defensive workouts at respective positions (multiple spots for a few players), and concluded with main diamond mound bullpen sessions where the pitchers' stats were compiled.
Note: All showcase videos have been added to player profiles. We will post reports by position as the week moves along (corner INFs, catchers, outfielders, 2023/2024 pitchers). The players listed here are ordered by their peak FB velocity.

Quinten Marsh, Valley Christian (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Long and strong, high waist, strength showing in legs, very projectable body type.
Delivery: High lift with continuous movement leading to falling from rubber, in line stride, lands slightly closed, finishes through target, powerful lower body usage.
Arm Action: LH. Clean backside, has timing with stride, high-3/4 release though occasionally lower with secondary offerings, accelerates arm easily.
FB: T77, 73-75 mph. Considerable run on arm side with flashes of sink, holds plane, extension plays up the velocity, spin projects BIG future FB.
SL: 62-64 mph. Smooth traditional SL break, feel around the zone, worked lower parts of zone well, able to shape to glove side.
CH: 63-66 mph. Finishes well, well above average movement pattern, late big fade down and away from RHH, advanced for his age.
Griffin Sutton, Granada (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/P
Body: 5-11, 180-pounds. Long, broad frame, ample room for future size/strength gains.
Delivery: Medium lift over rubber, gathers/sinks into backside before getting to in line stride and closed landing, hands work up with knee lift, spins through release to 1B side.
Arm Action: RH. Loose clean circle on on backside, depth just below hip, high-3/4 slot, full finish with occasional slight recoil.
FB: T75, 73-75 mph. Flashed quality run on arm side, potential sinker type FB when he learns how to use the movement.
CB: 53-58 mph. Showed considerable feel of big tumbling 11/6 type CB, as arm speed and spin increase there is a good pitch waiting to emerge.
SL: 57-65 mph. Even more feel than the SL, velocities similar, smaller break and movement pattern, has feel for manipulating the spin.
CH: 60-62 mph. Similar look to FB with movement pattern, works down well, gets some late fade, certainly chance to develop an avg CHG.
Spencer Korzep, Capistrano Valley (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Long body, strong bone structure, broad frame.
Delivery: Athletic lift with smooth continuous rhythmic movement into stable slight cross body stride, lands square, finishes in line through target, somewhat upright finish.
Arm Action: LH. Short backside, elbow up out of glove w/hand under, high-3/4 slot, loose through full finish and deceleration.
FB: T75, 73-75 mph. Spins REAL well given he's an 8th grader, flashes run on arm side that will play better with ability to get in bottom of zone.
CB: 60-63 mph. Late action, two plane break, present spin rates well and projects the CB to be a future above avg to plus pitch.
CH: 70-72 mph. Outstanding finish, extension of pitch provides depth and late action, similar look to the FB, will be usable off the FB look.
Brendan Moddelmog, Dublin (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/P
Body: 5-10, 130-pounds. Lean lithe young athletic body, high waist.
Delivery: High athletic lift to tuck/gather over rubber, uncoils with timing, controls long stride to stable landing, in line stride, closed strike foot, finishes through target in fielding position.
Arm Action: RH. Loose clean circle on backside, smooth arm action, depth just below hip, quickly accelerates through release, overhand release.
FB: T75, 73-74 mph. Max spin of 2216 as 8th grader projects big future mph gains, pounds zone, late arm side movement, natural feel for zone while throwing FB aggressively.
CB: 62-65 mph. Tight CB, spins with natural feel, late bit with 11/5 type shape, potential swing and miss future CB.
KN: 63-65 mph. Located it with consistency while repeating the release.
Giovanni Cadena, Heritage (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/P
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Lean body type, trim with wiry strength.
Delivery: Loose rhythmic easy lift, minimal delivery actions, in line stride to open landing, upright finish.
Arm Action: RH. Long full backside arm action, takes to near knee depth, loose arm through finish with some occasional recoil, overhand slot with lower release height.
FB: T73, 70-72 mph. Average movement patterns, around the zone, flashes ability to run it big on arm side with better control on glove side.
CB: 52-55 mph. Bigger shape with wide break, some ability to spin that allows for favorable projection.
SPLT: 62-64 mph. Fairly consistent release height, 3 of 4 were located similarly and all down below zone.
Tyler Kennedy, Granada (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/P
Body: 5-11, 210-pounds. Broad frame, thick body type.
Delivery: Methodical over the rubber, gathers at balance point before starting down slope, in line stride to close landing, spins back leg around to 1B side at finish. Controlled stuff well in slide step stretch.
Arm Action: RH. Long backside getting to full extension, high-3/4 slot, easy arm, smooth arm action, full finish.
FB: T72, 68-71 mph. Mostly straight, has control of zone at early age, max spin of 2030 projects well with more arm speed and more aggressive release.
CB: 56-58 mph. Has control, wider break, has feel for throwing it.
CH: 59-61 mph. Pounded zone with CHG, similar movement to FB, will play well of his FB look as the spin reduction will create late fade.
Daniel Solis, Santa Teresa (CA), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/P
Body: 5-10, 130-pounds. Wiry, average body type on lithe frame.
Delivery: Unique style, swings leg far behind rubber, gets to a tuck/crouch at height of lift, sinks into backside, in line stride, open landing, finishes in fielding position.
Arm Action: RH. Deep on backside with slight stab, 3/4 slot, sneaky slot and perhaps hard to find for the hitter.
FB: T68, 67-68 mph. Sneaky look, sink type action, lots of arm side movement, gets inside of it at release, showed control in the zone.
CB: 55-56 mph. Big shape, rolling action, downer vertical break with some steepness.
CH: 59-61 mph. Big spin reduction off the FB, slightly lower release, more subtle movement than FB.
