NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - Last week was a focus on numerous 2023 grads, some we have ranked and already firmly on the radar and others who will push their way into the rankings as they continue to develop... some sooner than later.
On Tuesday 5/11 it was Live Oak HS at Willow Glen HS in San Jose. That game featured 2023 RHP Landon Stump on the mound for LOHS (Oregon commit), facing a couple of notable 2023 grads in the WGHS line-up, SS PJ Moutzouridis (Cal Poly commit) and CF Dylan Dallas. A couple of other LOHS Acorns also drew my attention, 2022 LF Justin Kester-Johnson and 2023 CF Dominic Pereira, as well as a freshman catcher from WGHS, Brogan Enos.
Then on Thursday 5/13 it was a trip to the East Bay to see Clayton Valley Charter and their 2023 C Ryder Helfrick (Cal commit) and a pair of talented 2022 grads, RHP Jacob Krieg (Sacramento State commit) and CF Leighton Helfrick (uncommitted). I was hopeful to see either 2023 RHP Kyle Connelly (Cal commit) or 2023 RHP Ryder Oakley (St. Mary's commit) on the mound for the Ugly Eagles, but that will have to be another day. Connelly did play RF for CV.

2023 RHP Landon Stump of Live Oak HS w/couple of Ks here, struck out side, EZ 91 on both of Ks, extremely smooth/easy arm stroke, ball LEAPS out of his hand. Flashed tight SL (78 mph) and plus CHG (79 mph). He’s @OregonBaseball commit@ShooterHunt @PBR_California @prepbaseball pic.twitter.com/q1jTVEd7em

Second knock of game for 2023 C Ryder Helfrick of @CVUglyBaseball, @CalBaseball commit. Uncomplicated approach, sees strikes and lets it fly. Also takes his between inning throws seriously, accurate, throws track, up to 82.3. Athletic receiver too.@PBR_California @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/UnPxa843ks
