Corner Infielders:
2021 3B/OF Pranav Sundar - California, 5-11, 205, R/R
Medium, long frame with width in the shoulders and high waist. High knees runner moves fair underway (7.76 60yd). Wide, balanced stance with crouch and good posture keeping high hands and high back elbow. Knee tucks as hands lift up with slight movement back. Short turn as barrel works upwards through the zone creating easy lift; pullside gap power driving with flashes of carry (87 EV). Tall and wide in infield with glove out in front; fair range with ability to replace feet. Quick circle with high release able to make the throws from range covered (76 MPH).
2021 3B/RHP Benjamin Pernetti - Pleasant Grove, 6-1, 200, L/R
Large frame with high tight waist and full build. Inline runner with compact stride length (7.71 60 yd). Tall stance, slightly open with even hands. Hands lift with toe lift and turn of the front leg before rotation of the hips. Hands work directly to the ball with barrel having short lift through contact; bottom hand takes control of the swing. Stayed to the pull side with some backspin that way especially into the gap (87 EV). Very wide, low base with deliberate footwork; good first step on crossover to glove side. Compact, high release with flashes of arm speed from the hole (75 MPH). Also showed three pitches on the mound from tall H-3/4 with compact arm swing. FB 78-80 used to both sides of the plate, CB 68-69 casts early with short depth through the zone, CHG 71-72 arm side tail.
2022 1B/3B Colin Spear - Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep, 6-2, 200, R/R
Large, wide and thick frame with high waist and some strength. Coming back from a major knee/leg injury from Football season; 9.10 60 yd. Slightly open stance with bend in knees keeping high hands and high back elbow. Simple, balanced swing allowing barrel to work upwards through the zone; quick bat that is strong and able to really drive the ball deep into the gaps. Future pop as he drives the backside and creates easy leverage (90 EV); ball jumps off his bat when on time. Wide, high hips glove shows smaller range; puts out effort getting off the bag and moving to get ball at 1st. Fair glove with fair bag presence; compact, higher release arm (71 MPH). Will need to improve athleticism as bat can really get to ball.
2022 3B/RHP Joshua Nicholson - Washington, 6-0, 190, R/R
Long, medium frame with some strength showing and length in lower half. Flat foot runner with even stride (7.88 60yd). Wide stance keeping even hands away from his body and high back elbow. Heavy transfer of weight over back leg, as hands have pronounced movement into back shoulder with toe tap front foot. Compact swing with direct hands allowing barrel to show smooth rearward turn; lifts ball to the pullside of the field (76 EV). Flashes some strength to the gap with high finish. Shows wide base with low hips fielding ball in front; gets body down early and controlled feet. Arm has a high back elbow with fair hand speed out front (72 MPH); keeps ball on the bag from multiple angles. On mound showed clean arm swing to H-3/4 with extension down the hill using two pitches. FB 72-75 with glove side angle, CB 65-66 showing shallow 3/4 blend with loose depth.
