Game Notes (CA): Valley Christian v St. Francis (4/12/19)

San Jose, CA - The WCAL League is proving once again to be a tough, deeply talented league where each week is a challenge. 4/12/19 was another Power 25 meetup, and a big time pitching match-up between Valley Christian and St. Francis

Game Notes:

Valley Christian got on the board first when 2020 OF Eddie Park reached on an error by the 2nd baseman, before stealing 2nd. He would come around on a fielder’s choice by 2021 1B Jon Cymrot and the Warriors took a 1-0 lead. St. Francis had a chance to answer in their half with runners on 1st and 3rd but 2019 RHP Steven Zobac got back-to-back looking K’s to keep it 1-0. Both teams were kept off the board until the 5th when 2021 SS Trevor Haskins reached on an error before being pushed to 3rd base on a long 2B by Park. Haskins then came in on a walk to Cymrot making it 2-0. St. Francis got on the board in their half of the 5th when 2019 OF Mason Burke walked and scored on a 1B to LCF by 2020 SS Jeter Ybarra. The Warriors responded with 2 in the 6th on a 3B by Haskins and another 1B by Park making it 4-1. St. Francis kept the pressure on scoring a run on a pinch hit 2B by 2019 Maurice Wilmer and a pinch hit 1B by 2020 Max Porter, but couldn’t get any more and Valley Christian took a 4-2 victory in another solid WCAL game.

2019 RHP Steven Zobac (Valley Christian) - Cal Commit. XL Frame with length in limbs and strength throughout; projectable and physical. Started on the mound for Valley Christian while also hitting in the 3-hole showing his future two-way abilities.
