Game Notes (CA): Dublin at Pittsburg
March 26, 2019
PITTSBURG, CA - St. Mary's has put together a strong 2020 recruiting class thus far and one of the players who they should be excited about is 2020 C/SS Kris Leffle. He played SS in this one as he looks to be the best option for his team but to my knowledge, he's headed to SMC as a catcher. In any case, he's a left-handed hitting athlete and looked capable of playing just about anywhere on the field.
Dublin HS ended up winning the game and though they don't have any major four year college recruits (to my knowledge) they do have some quality athletes/players who are capable of continuing their playing days, certainly at a JC and beyond. Their catcher Sam Gilliam and centerfielder Cole McMahon are both talented players, especially at their respective defensive positions.
As for Pittsburg, they are YOUNG and very well could be a team heard from in the years to come. They started six sophomores and one freshman and only two seniors (one was pitcher who was DH'd for). Their young players aren't as of yet slam dunk college prospects but there were a number of things that stood out for those I liked (three of them), reflected in the reports inside.
