Game Notes (CA): Capital Christian at Christian Brothers

Blaine Clemmens
Northern California Director of Scouting

SACRAMENTO, CA - Capital Christian and Christian Brothers are league and city rivals and this one played out exactly that way. An early 1-0 lead for CB turned into a 3-1 deficit when CC 2021 C/INF TeJean Smith cleared loaded bases with a double in the 2nd inning. Then that turned into a 5-3 CB lead as some sloppy CC play mixed with some good CB execution. But another big inning from Capital Christian, which included a big home run from '19 1B Xavier Carter gave the lead back to the Cougars, 7-5. The game ended in a 7-6 win for CCHS, but not before the CBHS Falcons loaded the bases in the bottom of 7.

2020 LHP Rio Britton started for CCHS and along with Carter was the main draw to this game. The long and lanky young pitcher didn't disappoint, striking out 8 in five complete innings of work and walking one. There is a lot he still needs to improve upon but he has a VERY high ceiling.

Video clip highlights Britton & Carter and inside we have notes/videos on the following players (in addition to Smith, Carter, Britton): Vinnie Bachelier, Connor Polli, Max Martinez, Jordan Gonzales, Justin Johnson.
