Monterey, CA: - On a cold Tuesday afternoon, Aptos traveled to Monterey for a scrimmage letting two of the biggest programs on the Central Coast get some early work in as they’ve been battling rain and wet fields over the last month. Aptos looks to be one of the top teams in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League and Monterey similarly in the Pacific Coast Athletic League. Both teams looked like they were still working to get into game shape with it being early in the Spring, but that didn’t mean talent didn’t stand out. Below are both game and scouting notes.

‘19 David Eichhorn popped onto my radar last season, but after transferring schools and battling some leg injuries the looks were limited. I knew David had bloodlines being the son of former big leaguer Mark Eichhorn and the brother of Kevin who was a 3rd draft pick out of Aptos in 2008. He really impressed on the mound where his long and lean frame moved freely and is projectable. His loose arm is compact getting to a high ¾ release quickly and freely. The uncommitted righty went 2 innings striking out 6, walking 1 and giving up a hit.
