LISTED IN ORDER OF MAX FASTBALL VELOCITY
Octavio Soto, Salinas (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Physical: 6-0, 185-pounds; Proportional, athletic build.
Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride while landing slightly closed. Long arm swing while arm stays in line with 2B; high/over the top slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 85 MPH, while sitting 82-84 MPH; plays up in the zone. CB: 71-73 MPH; slurve-like action. CH: 73-75 MPH; fading action. Easy arm, uses lower half well, more feel for breaking ball out of stretch, three usable pitches and still with slightly higher velocity ceiling.
Alec Ortiz, Salinas (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Physical: 5-9, 180-pounds; Sturdy, broad shouldered build.
Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with shoulders above the hips. Has a moderate stride while landing slightly closed. Moderate arm swing while demonstrating segmented stop and go action; high-3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 78 MPH, while sitting 76-78 MPH; straight action. SL: 74-75 MPH; short action. CH: 76-78 MPH; maintains same plain. Slight cross body stride plays well with ability to feel the SL out of the stretch where he can start it at the hip and break into the zone, simple arm action and mechanics suggests strike throwing ability.
Sebastian Juarez-Lopez, Rancho San Juan (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/RHP
Physical: 5-8, 167-pounds; Average, athletic build.
Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Minimal leg lift with a slight lean over the belt. Has a long stride while landing slightly closed. Long arm swing while stabbing downward; standard-3/4 slot. Upright with finish. FB: Peak velo of 73 MPH, while sitting 70-72 MPH; arm side run. CB: 61-63 MPH; sweeping lateral action. SL: 63-66 MPH; slurve-like. CH: 68-69 MPH; runs. Breaking balls flashed whiffle ball action to glove side, FB has movement though will have to control better to allow him to get to the CB and SL.
Nicolas Eckhaus, Salinas (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: MIF/RHP
Physical: 5-8, 135-pounds; Average, lean build
Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Short take back while showing some scap load; high-3/4 slot. Square to the plate with finish. FB: Peak velo of 72 MPH, while sitting 71-72 MPH; straight action. CB: 60-62 MPH; 11-5 shape. CH: 66-67 MPH; runs. Big CB showed as his best pitch, has steep tumbling action in the zone, short backside could create some deception as he hides the ball with a slight turn of the front shoulder.
