BCPBL Premier Championships: Quick Hits

In late July, the British Columbia Premier Baseball League concluded their 2024 Premier season with the Championship Tournament in Surrey, British Columbia and our staff was in attendane to take it all in.

The White Rock Tritons ultimately took home the trophy as they won the final winner-take-all game against the Langley Blaze by a score of 5-3 in a tournament that included the top prospects on the West Coast of Canada, many of whom are now off to their respective college campuses.

With the large crop of talent on hand, our staff will begin to breakdown the standouts over the four days in Surrey as we provide scouting notes and video on ten players who caught our attention.

'25 RHP Jake Fehr (Delta Blue Jays/Uncommitted): In a tournament full of strong pitching performances, Fehr’s outing stood out as the strongest. The Delta right-hander toed the slab in an elimination game and spun a complete game one-hit shutout while striking out eight and walking two. His fastball sat 86-88mph and topped 89.3mph while the cutter and slider played well off each other at 80-83 and 72-74, respectively. Fehr also showed an advanced ability to control the running game against a speedy Victoria Eagles club. Fehr has the makeup, intelligence, and ability to stick as a starter in college and will be throwing for Team Canada later this week at the Senior Future games.

'24 RHP/INF Ben Mckinnon (White Rock Tritons/Bossier Parrish CC): Mckinnon was named MVP of the tournament after leading his Tritons club to Gold. Known around the province as one of the top right-handers in the ‘24 class, Mckinnon also made a major impact with the bat going 6-for-11 with two big RBI in the final game. On the mound, he threw eight innings across two outings allowing four earned runs and picked up the save in the final, stranding the bases loaded in the final frame of his high school career. With a fastball that has topped 92mph and a batting average well above .350, Mckinnon is primed to make an immediate impact at Bossier Parrish.

'25 OF/RHP Evan Dugdale (Langley Blaze/Uncommitted): The two-way talent out of the Langley Blaze organization put together another solid weekend on both sides of the ball. Dugdale got the ball in the Blaze’s third game of the tournament, striking out six over 5.2 innings of work. He took the loss but did not allow an earned run to lower his overall season ERA to 1.07. At the plate, Dugdale seemed to always come up clutch in big moments for the Blaze, including a walkoff two-run single in the semi-final. One of the top two-ways on the West Coast, Dugdale is a name college coaches need to know in the 2025 class.

'25 SS/OF/RHP Nolan Weinmeyer (Langley Blaze/Illinois State): Weinmeyer had all of his tools on display during the tournament, consistently in the middle of the field and top of the order for the Blaze. He showed off his plus-speed by stealing six bases, including four in the semifinal. The Redbirds commit went 6-for-16 at the plate including a 3-for-3 performance in the final. He also flashed legitimate potential on the mound, throwing a complete-game two-run gem to force a winner-take-all final game. Whether it be on the grass or the dirt, Weinmeyer has what it takes to stick up the middle.

'25 RHP Oscar Moy (UBC Thunder/Uncommitted): Moy got the ball for the Thunder in their first game of the tournament and did not disappoint, going the distance and allowing just one run. His mid 80’s FB and deceptive arm slot helped him limit hard contact, allowing just 2 XBH in his seven innings of work. Moy will be an arm to watch out of BC heading into the Canada Cup.

‘26 C Shintaro Inazuki (Abbotsford Cardinals/Uncommitted): The young catcher for the Cardinals was a pleasant surprise on day one of the tournament, collecting three RBI and throwing out a runner at second. Inazuki is starting to make a name for himself as one of the better defensive catchers in the league. Over 284 defensive innings, he allowed only 16 passed balls, including none in his team's two games in the tournament. Keep an eye on Inazuki as he continues to develop at and behind the plate.

'26 SS Kadyn Armitage (White Rock Tritons/Uncommitted): The everyday shortstop for the Tritons, Armitage is one of the top position players in BC’s 2026 class. Throughout the tournament, he went 10-for-17 with only three strikeouts and did not record an error in 5 games at shortstop. As athletic as they come, Armitage will look to build on his strong sophomore campaign next month at the Canada Cup.

'24 OF/C Keegan Drinkle (Langley Blaze/ UMary): Drinkle has been one of the top hitters in BC for several years now, and the PBL Championships was no exception. The former Future Gamer rounded out a successful high school career going 10-for-20 with four doubles. Highlighted by a walkoff single to force a decisive final game, Drinkle’s final weekend in the PBL has him primed for a successful college career.

'25 INF Braeden Scott (UBC Thunder/Uncommitted): At 6-foot-1, 190-pounds Scott has a smooth left-handed swing with the potential for power to the pullside. He has advanced bat-to-ball skills and a good eye at the plate posting a 1.56 BB/K rate in his Junior year for the Thunder. With a peak exit velocity of 92.5mph, expect Scott to continue to trend up heading into his senior year.

'25 RHP Luke Thomas (White Rock Tritons/Uncommitted): Thomas was one of the most electrifying right-handers on display last weekend. Standing at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, the White Rock product has been up to 91mph and is an excellent mover. The CB sits in the low to mid 70’s and is often thrown for a strike early. Thomas is an under-the-radar arm who has the potential to be a difference-maker in college.
