British Columbia Insider: Four Uncommitted Names You Need To Know

Parker Wakelyn RHP / Yale Secondary, BC / 2019 Report: Parker is 6-1 and weighs 160-pounds. Wakelyn has tremendous upside with a clean and quick arm action and possesses a pitchers frame with long arms and legs and wide shoulders which have yet to fill out. He currently throws 82-84 mph but with his work ethic and how easy his arm works, that should increase this upcoming year and in his senior season. He throws a tight slider that has a chance to be a potential swing and miss pitch and has a developing changeup which currently is an average pitch. I envision him having a breakout season and is someone college coaches should watch closely and follow his progression.

Theo Millas RHP / 3B / Alpha Secondary, BC / 2020 Report: Theo is a tall, projectible right-hander. The 6-3, 180-pounder has room to add size to his frame. His delivery is very smooth and effortless, showing the makings of a stand out collegiate pitcher who already has gotten his fastball up to 89 mph with more velocity in his young arm. He has a plus slider already, which is devastating and an above average changeup with arm-side movement. He is the second youngest pitcher on the Canadian Junior National Team and looks to be there for the long haul. The arm is quick and the delivery shows no signs of stress. Look for the stuff to continue to rise and as he matures both physically and as a pitcher, we see the future being very bright for the young, uncommitted right-hander.

Taisei Yahiro LHP / OF / Yale Secondary, BC / 2019 Report: Tasai is 6-1 and weighs 175-pounds. He is a Japanese exchange student and has a funky, deceptive delivery which hitters find it hard to pick up. He pitches at 82-85 mph and can bump it up a little when he needs it to finish a hitter. He starts his windup with a pause at leg kick and messes with the hitter's timing and hides the ball behind his back very well. He has a lights out changeup which he has the confidence to throw in any situation to go along with an average curveball, but at times is above average when he doesn’t get underneath. He is a fierce competitor and always wants the ball, lots of upside still to come with present pitchability, a definite follow this year for college coaches.

Brandon Nicoll C / Langley Senior Secondary, BC / 2019 Report: Brandon is 5-11, 195-pounds and plays third base with a quick first step and solid arm to go along with a high level swing. His swing is quiet with minimal movement in his load and has great balance allowing him not to get cheated on any pitch. His exit velocity is 93 mph with quick hands, which translates to bat speed. One of the top 2019 bats in the country. Nicoll has the bat to profile as a third baseman who plays his position well and be a middle of the lineup run producer at the next level.
