With the 2024 baseball season fast approaching, players are working tirelessly in the weight room, on the mound, and in the box to be the best version of themselves for the season ahead. Talented players are littered all over the province, however, with the season on the horizon, we want to preview 5 players in the 2025 graduation class that are looking to make an impact this coming summer.

2024 Season Preview - BC Class of 2024 Watch List

Evan Dugdale OF / RHP / Meadow Ridge, BC / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 The Langley Blaze product has been a name to follow in the BC’s 2025 class. Dugdale, one of the top two-ways in the country, has showcased well in different areas on the field. On the mound Dugdale features a fastball in the high 80’s and from the outfield has reached 90 mph. The live arm is still arguably not Dugdale’s best tool, with a 6.70 60 yard dash has him as one of the fastest players in his class. Look for some sneaky pop out of Dugdale’s bat and the ability to hit in the middle of the order for the Blaze this season. Dugdale can drive the ball deep into the gap and defenses need to be ready because of his speed and ability to swipe extra bases at will. Dugdale is a top tier athlete that recruiters should keep an eye on. He is a must follow this upcoming season and it is unlikely he stays uncommitted for long.

Lukas Le Gras C / OF / Lambrick Park, BC / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 Le Gras is one of the top catchers in Canada’s 2025 class, and that was on full display last year at the Future Games. In his 10 defensive innings at Lakepoint in Georgia, he threw out 4 runners. One of those outs was clocked at a POP time of 1.88. At 6-foot-0, 185-pounds, Le Gras shows projection on both sides of the ball. The aforementioned ability to control the running game, along with soft hands, his ability to move and block, as well as being able to slow the game down. At the plate, the RHH shows twitch in the bat with bat-to-ball skills in which he works gap-to-gap on a line. He showed the ability at the Future Games, as well as elsewhere, to do damage against some of the top arms in his class.

Shane Brinham LHP / Handsworth, BC / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 Brinham, a 2023 Future Gamer, is one of the top LHPs on the west coast. With an athletic, wiry build he comes at you with a very short and quick arm out of ¾ slot. The short/quick arm creates deception as the ball gets on  hitters quicker. The fastball sits in the 85-88 mph range that he can spin north of 2700 rpm. His ability to spin it creates life out of the hand and carry in the zone, generating plenty of in-zone swing & miss. The curveball sits in the low-mid 70s and has 12+ inches of horizontal break, inducing plenty of weak contact out-of-zone chase. The changeup is also an effective pitch in the mid-high 70s, he does a good job killing spin and tunneling it with the fastball. Brinham has the ability to locate all 3 offerings for a strike. Brinham is trending in the right direction and an offseason of development should add to the intrigue that follows him.

Ian Vandepol RHP / 3B / Unity Christian, BC / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 8 / POS: 1 2025 Ian Vandepol broke onto the scene last year during the Langley Blaze Pro Tour after a scoreless 1-2-3 inning against professional hitters. Since then, committing to pitching has shown to take his size and velocity to a new level. Vandepol has been clocked at 89 mph early on this year and is looking to be a feature arm in the Blaze staff that is very deep. Vandepol also features a tight spinning slider that is backed up by a cutter and change-up to keep hitters guessing. Vandepol features some of the top velocity in the West Coast’s 2025 recruiting class and his drop and drive delivery comes with deception for hitters. Vandepol will be an arm to follow as he continues to develop into his senior season with the Blaze. Look for this 2025 arm to have success in BC’s Premier Baseball League this season and for Vandepol to gain high levels of interest from college recruiters and scouts.

Reed Sutton 1B / RHP / Dover Bay, BC / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 14 / POS: 1 Sutton has flown under the radar during his tenure as a Mid-Island Pirate. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound LHH is one of the more physical hitters in his class. While his numbers won’t immediately jump out at you, the raw power is there in his strength based swing. He utilizes a simple load to get on time and drives the ball with ease staying up the middle and on a line. As Sutton continues to mature and add strength, the athleticism and twitch will become more of a factor at the plate.
