Underclass Top Prospect: Quick Hits

On Tuesday, June 11th, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Underclass Top Prospect Games at the Brewers Spring Training complex in, Phoenix AZ. The Top Prospect events are an invite only event held for prospects in the 2028-2027 classes in the state of Arizona, giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field. 

Today, we’ll start by giving you the Top Performers from the Underclass Top Prospect Games, which we like to call Quick Hits. Maverick Bolen C / RHP / Horizon High School, AZ / 2027

Maverick Bolen, a 2027 graduate from Horizon High School, emerged as one of the top performers at the Underclass Top Prospect Games. As a catcher and right-handed pitcher, Bolen showcased his versatility and talent. On the mound, his fastball touched 84 mph, and with continued development and improved consistency in the zone, he is poised to become a high-follow prospect in the 2027 class. At the plate, Bolen impressed with the highest exit velocity of the day at 101.5 mph, highlighting his significant power potential. His dual-threat capability as both a pitcher and hitter makes Bolen a standout talent to watch.

  

 

Ben Jacobus OF / 1B / Corona Del Sol High School, AZ / 2028

Ben Jacobus, an outfielder set to attend Corona Del Sol in the fall of 2024, put together arguably the most mature rounds of batting practice among all participants at the event. He consistently drove balls to the big part of the field and sprayed the gaps with low line drives. As Jacobus continues to grow and gain strength, he is poised to become one of the top prospects in the 2028 class. His advanced approach at the plate and ability to make solid contact highlight his potential for significant development and success in the coming years.

  

 

George Garvy OF / 2B / Desert Vista High School, AZ / 2027

George Garvy, a 2027 grad outfielder and middle infielder from Desert Vista High School, had an outstanding performance during the workout portion, particularly in his rounds of batting practice. Garvy showcased a smooth left-handed swing that works quickly through the zone, generating a maximum exit velocity of 91 mph. His impressive hitting mechanics and ability to produce hard contact make him a standout performer. Garvy's combination of offensive potential and defensive versatility positions him as a promising prospect to watch in the 2027 class.

  

 

Anthony Gilligan OF / RHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2027

Anthony Gilligan, a 2027 outfielder from Saguaro High School, showcased immense power potential during the event. Standing at 6'4" and 190 pounds, the right-handed hitter used his large, athletic frame to launch multiple balls into the gaps, producing a maximum exit velocity of 99.2 mph. With a fly ball to line drive profile, Gilligan's swing consistently generated impressive power, marking him as a standout performer. His combination of size, strength, and power-hitting ability positions him as a top prospect to watch in the 2027 class.

  

 

Marco Vacanti OF / Horizon, AZ / 2027

Marco Vacanti, a 2027 outfielder from Horizon High School, was one of the top performers at the event. He showcased a flat, balanced swing that produced natural whip through the zone, generating a maximum exit velocity of 96.2 mph. With added size to his frame, Vacanti is expected to achieve even higher exit velocities in the future, complemented by his high-level bat speed. His advanced hitting mechanics and potential for increased power make him a promising prospect to watch in the coming years.
