Mesa Summer ID: Quick Hits

On Wednesday, May 28th, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Summer Mesa ID the first event of the summer at Desert Ridge High School in, Mesa AZ. The ID events are an open event held for prospects in the 2025-2028 classes in the state of Arizona, giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field.

Tre Hallberg 3B / SS / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2027Tre Hallberg, an infielder from Desert Ridge High School, showcased his impressive skills during the Summer Mesa ID. His defensive prowess was evident with clean actions up the middle and a reliable glove, demonstrating smooth fielding mechanics and a strong arm. However, the most notable aspect of Hallberg's performance was his raw power at the plate. As an incoming sophomore, he achieved an impressive 104.2 mph exit velocity during batting practice. Utilizing a high leg lift and a quick, flat swing path with a high finish, Hallberg consistently produced a line drive to flyball profile, indicating significant power potential and an ability to drive the ball deep into the outfield. His combination of defensive reliability and offensive power makes him a promising prospect to watch in the coming high school seasons.

Jose (Angel) Olivarez OF / RHP / Buena High School, AZ / 2025Jose Angel Olivarez, an outfielder from Buena High School, delivered a solid performance at the Summer Mesa ID, establishing himself as a standout in multiple categories. He clocked a 60-yard dash time of 6.68 seconds, showcasing above average speed, and recorded the top outfield velocity of 90 mph, showing off a powerful and accurate arm. At the plate, Olivarez exhibited a mature approach, consistently driving line drives to all parts of the field with a short, compact swing. Olivarez will be a high follow for the Arizona staff moving into the summer season.

Carter Daly RHP / 3B / Sandra Day O'Connor, AZ / 2025Carter Daly, an infielder from Sandra Day O'Connor High School, made a significant impression at the Summer Mesa ID with his potent left-handed swing. Known for his power, Daly didn't disappoint, launching multiple balls over the right field wall during batting practice. He recorded a peak exit velocity of 100.6 mph and a max distance of 382 feet, highlighting his ability to generate power from the left side of the plate. Daly employs a light leg lift load and efficiently drops his hands into the slot, enabling a quick, flat plane through the zone.

Kelton Floan SS / OF / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2026Kelton Floan, an infielder from Desert Ridge High School, stood out at the Summer Mesa ID with his quality defensive and offensive skills. Defensively, Floan was the one to watch up the middle, displaying clean actions with the glove and a high level arm, clocked at 89 mph across the infield. Offensively, the right-handed hitter complemented his defensive prowess with impressive rounds at the plate. Floan's quick, direct swing path consistently produced hard-hit ground balls and line drives to the middle and pullside, showcasing his ability to make solid contact and drive the ball effectively.
