On Tuesday, July 16th, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Glendale Summer ID at the Apollo High School in, Phoenix AZ. The ID events are an open event held for prospects in the 2028-2025 classes in the state of Arizona, giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field. 

Today, we’ll start by giving you the Top Performers from the Glendale Summer ID, which we like to call Quick Hits. Jose (Angel) Olivarez OF / RHP / Buena, AZ / 2025

Jose (Angel) Olivarez, a 2025 grad from Buena High School, immediately stood out at the Glendale Summer ID with his impressive athleticism and speed, running a 6.68 60-yard dash. In the outfield, Olivarez demonstrated his arm strength with throws clocked at 91 mph. This arm strength translated seamlessly to the mound, where he posted the top velocity of the day with a fastball sitting at 86-89 mph. Olivarez exhibited solid control, consistently throwing strikes. With further development of his secondary pitches, he is poised to become a high follow prospect in the 2025 class.

  

 

Ryan Tomey SS / 3B / Horizon, AZ / 2026

Ryan Tomey, a 2026 grad from Horizon High School, showcased impressive athleticism during the defensive portion of the day. He displayed confidence in his glove work up the middle and a strong, accurate arm across the infield, clocking throws at 86 mph. At the plate, Tomey demonstrated a wide stance and a flat bat path that worked long through the zone, consistently generating solid contact from the right side. His combination of defensive prowess and offensive consistency makes him a notable prospect in the 2026 class.

  

 

Blake Gregory C / Skyline High School, AZ / 2025

Blake Gregory, a 2025 grad from Skyline High School, demonstrated impressive skills behind the plate, showing good actions with the glove and a natural ability to block. His pop times ranged from 2.0 to 2.1 seconds, consistently delivering throws on the bag. At the plate, Gregory displayed a flat path with an uphill finish, generating a maximum exit velocity of 96.9 mph. His combination of defensive reliability and offensive power makes him a promising prospect in the 2025 class.

  

 

Chase Barker C / 3B / Dr. Camille Casteel High School, AZ / 2027

Chase Barker, a 2027 grad from Casteel High School, showcased well in the Glendale Summer ID . Behind the plate, Barker moved well and exhibited an above-average arm, clocking in at 73 mph. His pop times ranged from 2.0 to 2.22 seconds, and with a quicker catch-and-release, there is potential for significant improvement in his pop times. At the plate, Barker utilized a tall stance with a toe tap load, and his hands worked efficiently through the zone, producing a maximum exit velocity of 94.2 mph. His combination of defensive agility and offensive capability makes him a promising prospect in the 2027 class.
