West Coast Canes ID: Quick Hits

On Friday May 26-28, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Canes West ID at Grand Canyon University and Gene Autry Park. The Canes West ID is an exclusive event to all prospects in the 2027-2024 grad class in the Canes Organization. Giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field.
Today, we’ll start by giving you the Top Performers from the Canes West ID, which we like to call Quick Hits. Blake Bowen OF / King, CA / 2026One of the top standouts from this past weekends West Coast Canes ID event was outfielder Blake Bowen. The Oregon State commit put on a show in BP Friday night at GCU Ball Park, showcasing physicality in the frame and big time pop for a 2026 grad posting the highest EV of the night at 101.7. Bowen showed the ability to find consistent barrels in his rounds while working to the big part of the field.

Tyler Jackson C / 3B / Centennial, NV / 2025Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 4
One of the top uncommitted 2025 grads at the event was C/UTIL Tyler Jackson. Jackson showcased a high level frame at 6-foot-4 190 pounds with tons of room to grow. From the right side Jackson had long levers with serious jump off the bat at 101 EV working poolside to middle of the field with true flight. Behind the plate Jackson can improve with the glove, but posted a 76 mph arm and 1.92-2.06 pop time.

Christian Gross OF / SS / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2024Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 2
Another Uncommitted standout on the weekend on both sides of the ball was Nevada native Christian Gross. Gross showed athleticism in the outfield with an event high velocity of 92 mph to the bases. At the plate Gross had the 3rd highest EV at 100.4 with a short compact stroke that worked to both sides of the field.

Austin Smith C / SS / Chaparral, AZ / 2026Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 2
Recent Pepperdine commit Austin Smith is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class in the state of Arizona. The Junior Future Games representative showcased well in the West Coast Canes ID with a 1.87-2.06 pop time behind the plate and a 76 mph arm. At the plate Smith has the ability to get on plane and drive balls to the middle of the field with intent.

Taylor Trillo OF / 1B / Pinnacle, AZ / 2024Rankings StateRank: 59 / POS: 14
The uncommitted 2024 grad and first baseman had a solid showing throughout the weekend. With a 6-foot-4 200 pound frame Trillo generated some quality power to the pull side. In Friday nights BP portion Trillo had a max EV of 94.5 and a max distance of 347 ft. If Trillo can turn into a defensive first baseman with his current bat he will be a high follow for the Arizona staff.

Max Madrid OF / Basha , AZ / 2024Rankings StateRank: 27 / POS: 7
University of Washington commit Max Madrid has a body that is hard to miss for a corner outfielder in the 2024 class. Madrid has a smooth swing from the left side with a direct path and tons of pop to both sides of the field. Madrid is a high follow for the Arizona staff as he goes into his senior season at Basha High School.

Conor Rae C / SS / N/A, AZ / 2027Coming on to the scene in the 2027 class is UTIL Conor Rae. While Rae was only with us for the hitting portion of the weekend the raw ability to hit was hard to miss. The right handed hitter possess a loose whippy stroke and creates consistent hard contact to the middle of the field. Rae is one of the top prospects for the PBR Arizona staff in the 2027 class.

Matthew Delaney RHP / 1B / Albuquerque Academy, NM / 2025New Mexico native and one of the top uncommitted arms in the state in the 2025 class Matthew Delaney had an impressive outing for the Canes on Sunday morning. Delaney has a 6-foot-1 180 pound frame with a short over the top action sitting 84-86 T. 87. On the day Delaney worked 4 quality innings, pounding the zone with minimal hard contact.

Cameron Caminiti OF / LHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2025The #1 prospect in the state of Arizona for the 2025 class, LSU commit Cam Caminiti joined us for BP Friday night and put on a show, launching balls over the right field wall with a clean left handed swing. On the mound Caminiti was up to 97 from the left side in the state title game for Saguaro high school this spring.

Brandon Lord SS / OF / Basic Academy of International Studies, NV / 2026With a solid week overall Brandon Lord is a 2026 uncommitted middle infielder out of Nevada. While Lord still has room to grow in strength and size he plays the game at a high level for his age. On the day Lord had an 82 mph arm from the infielder and 86 mph arm from the outfield while running a sub 7 60.

Walter Urbon OF / SS / Loyola, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 9
The USC Commit joined us under the lights at GCU on Friday night and put together some impressive rounds of BP. Urban has a tall stance with a quick direct path that produces hard contact to the middle and pull side.

Grant McMeekin C / 1B / Mountain Ridge , AZ / 2025The 2025 Arizona native joined us over the weekend at the West Coast Canes ID, showcasing a large build at 6-foot-2 190 pounds. McMeekin was a standout in the BP portion on friday night with a max EV of 94.6 with long levers driving balls to the deep part of the park in left center field.
