Upside Uncommitted 2022s
May 1, 2020
This week, On the Hunt takes a look at eight promising, uncommitted 2022 players that were just outside the updated and expanded 2022 Overall Rankings. Each player shows impressive upside with a strong chance to crack the list in the near future. Whether starter profiles, two-way prospects, or exciting athletes, each of these players is likely to catch the eye of college recruiters in the near future.
Bennett Myers RHP / 1B / Franklin County, KY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 2
Myers opened eyes at PBR Kentucky’s preseason event, and looked ready to make an impact on the high school season before things were shut down. At 6-foot-3, 194-pounds he sports proportional strength throughout a projectable frame that will likely carry more in the near future. His power arm drives the ball on a downhill plane from a higher ¾ slot, and the fastball was up to 86 mph in an early bullpen, and will likely be up even more by the summer. There is some aggression to the delivery including a drop and drive down the mound which only allows for his stuff to play up more. He features feel for a straight changeup at 76-78, thrown for strikes, and an intriguing curveball (67-69) with some depth that may pair well with his higher RPM fastball. The frame and the arm strength alone will bring plenty of eyes to Myers’ outings in the future, and as he becomes more polished and gains more experience/innings, he has a chance to make a considerable jump down the line.
