FULL EVENT COVERAGE

Ryan Harwood 1B / RHP / Casteel, AZ / 2026

Harwood was one of the main attractions at the Underclass All-State and didn’t disappoint as he had his tools on full display. Catches your eye immediately with his sheer size and physicality at 6-foot-3, 215-pounds. The left-handed hitter posted one of the best rounds of BP, flashing his pullside power with the top distance at the event of 382 ft. It’s a wide setup from the left-side with a toe-tap load and balance throughout the swing, consistently looking to do damage as the ball jumps off his bat. Put up some quality at-bats during the scrimmage, as well. His arm strength also stood out, working up to 90mph from the outfield and 88mph on the infield. Arizona’s top 2026 prospect and still uncommitted.

Benjamin Ball OF / SS / Hamilton, AZ / 2026

Ball is another player who’s physicality stood out this weekend, standing at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Started his day running a 7.09 60-yard dash and worked up to 83mph from the outfield. The Arizona commit creates a lot of bat speed (72.9mph avg, 2nd best at event) and was back spinning the ball throughout his round with a top exit velocity of 95.1mph. The right-handed bat was the most impactful tool this weekend from Ball and no doubt looked the part of a top 10 prospect in Arizona.

Carter Macanas SS / 3B / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2026

Macanas was one of the best infielders during the Underclass event with quick, clean actions and good footwork. There was arm strength across the diamond, as well, working up to 82mph with accurate throws. Right-handed hitter with quick hands in the box and a leg-kick to start the swing. Gap-to-gap approach right now, although he can elevate the ball at times, and the overall offensive profile should continue to trending upwards as he grows and adds strength. It was a good overall first showing of the year from the uncommitted prospect out of Desert Ridge.

Jaiden Lo Re SS / C / Corona Del Sol, AZ / 2025

Lo Re was another player who had strong performances with the bat and on the defensive side. There’s quick twitch throughout his game and he has the ability to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he moves well side-to-side and consistently fields balls cleanly outfront. The arm works well from multiple arm slots and there’s no issues throwing on the run. Best infield velocity of 82mph. Right-handed hitter who utilizes the entire field and had some of the best hand speed at the event (21.8mph avg). Top exit velocity of 95.7mph and found the barrel several times throughout the scrimmage. Moved well in all areas on Saturday and no doubt had one of the better overall performances. Arizona State commit.

Mickey Fox LHP / OF / Yuma Catholic, AZ / 2025

Fox may have had the best showings among arms on Saturday with a combination of stuff, athleticism and projectability. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound left-hander out of Yuma Catholic is smooth down the hill with clean arm action. Strike-thrower who sat 84-85mph with the fastball and had good spin for his age (2347 max, 2249 avg). Worked with a pair of quality offspeed pitches, starting with the slider at 74-75 that he could throw in any count and generated swing/miss. The changeup was 77-79mph and had some impressive horizontal movement and fade. Projectable uncommitted left-hander who continues to trend upwards. There’s lots to like with Fox on the mound and should be an underclass arm to keep tabs on throughout the high school season.

Luis Mejia SS / 2B / St. Mary's Catholic, AZ / 2026

A standout at the shortstop position was 2026 grad out of Saint Mary’s high school Luis Mejia. Mejia is a left handed hitting middle infielder with high level actions in the field and in the box. Mejia is a true shortstop with length and athleticism, he has quality range side to side and an accurate 78 mph arm across the infield. During the BP portion of the day Mejia sprayed the ball with true flight to all parts of the field, which translated later in the day during game play where he shot a line drive the the opposite field for a stand up double. Mejia is a high follow for the Arizona staff as he goes into his freshman campaign.

Ethan Trahan OF / LHP / Horizon, AZ / 2026

Trahan was our first Jr. Future Gamer from this summer off the board (Arizona State) and looked the part on Saturday. 5-foot-10, 185-pound, left-on-left outfielder who was strong in all areas, including the scrimmage. Worked up to 83mph from the outfield during the showcase with easy carry on his throws and made some nice plays in the centerfield gaps during the scrimmage. The left-handed hitter worked the middle of the field throughout his round of BP and is consistently on-time and on-plane while generating bat speed. Trahan continues to mature and improve each time we see him and the ball was jumping off the bat with more ease on Saturday with a top exit velocity of 96.1mph.

Nate Shoemaker SS / 3B / Catalina Foothills , AZ / 2025

Shoemaker swung one of the hottest bats on the day, putting up some loud swings during BP and followed it up with a pair of doubles in the scrimmage. Right-handed hitter with a quiet setup and looks the part in the box at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. The power projects and he’s already able to hit the gaps with relative ease, as well as find the barrel in-game. Top exit velocity of 97.1mph and average of 89.2mph. Performed well defensively with a good glove and was 80mph across the diamond. Could end up at a corner position as he continues to fill out and add strength. Good start to the 2023 season for the uncommitted prospect out of Catalina Foothills.

Cole Berge SS / 2B / Hamilton, AZ / 2025

One of the standouts amongst the shortstops on the day was 6-foot 155-pound out of Hamilton high school Cole Berge. Berge has a lengthy and strong build with a great ability to move side to side in the infield. Across the diamond Berge had an 82 mph arm with smooth and confident actions with the glove. At the plate Berge has a tall stance, hands starting outside his shoulder, a high leg lift load and a flat path that works long through the zone. Berge’s bat produced a max EV of 89.4 mph and a max distance of 350 ft to the left center field gap.

Brody James SS / RHP / Desert Mountain , AZ / 2026

James put up some good numbers on both sides of the ball but stood out most on the mound where he was one of the top arms of the day. Compact 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-hander out of Desert Mountain who sat 83-85 T86 with the fastball with sink. Pairs it with a slider at 69-71mph and changeup at 73-75mph. Plenty of potential on the mound and he can also get it done on the infield and at the dish. Fields balls with confidence at the shortstop position and moves well laterally with arm strength across the diamond (85mph). Right-handed hitter who’s aggressive in the box and found the sweet spot more often than not during BP (66%). Posted a top TrackMan exit velocity of 87.3mph.

David Daniels C / OF / Horizon, AZ / 2025

One of the standouts behind the plate with an event best pop time of 1.92 was Horizon catcher David Daniels. Daniels behind the dish has smooth receiving skills with a quick transfer and accurate arm. At the plate Daniels has a base that sits just outside shoulder width with high hands. His bat works flat through the zone with consistent hard contact and a top EV of 89.3 mph. With added strength and size we see Daniels projectability at the Division 1 level. We look forward to seeing Daniels this spring as he goes into his Sophomore season at Horizon.

Beckham Barney C / OF / Mountain View , AZ / 2025

Barney was one of the top defensive players throughout the catching drills and is a big presence behind the dish at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. He posted consistent pop-times between 2.00 and 2.06 with plenty of arm strength touching 75mph. He found the barrel throughout his round (80%), one of the top metrics at the event, and there’s plenty more in the tank offensively as he fills out and gets stronger.
