July 2, 2021
We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at one of the top uncommitted middle infielders in class of 2022, SS Brayden Grantham (Red Mountain).
Scouting Report: Possesses an athletic frame at 5-11/ 170-pounds with solid strength & projectability. Right-handed hitter, squared athletic stance, eliminated a toe tap trigger that he used in early spring that has made him more consistent. Starts with bat on back shoulder using a small shoulder load, staying connected to start downward move. Short swing, gets on plane early with efficient path, some present bat speed, showing feel for the barrel. Used a mid-pull approach, 95 mph exit velocity. Fields ball in a semi wide stance in the center of his body. Athletic footwork with some temp, slows down tempo as he approaches ball at times, soft quiet hands. Short arm with quick exchanges, more velocity with added momentum, 83 mph arm strength. A good balance of speed (6.75 60yd dash), skill, and strength makes Grantham an intriguing prospect.
