The Arizona Summer Scout Blog will include notes and reports on select prospects we see throughout our summer travel ball coverage. If there is a game/player that needs to be covered do not hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to be there. As always, contact [email protected] or direct message @PBRArizona on Twitter with any questions about Prep Baseball Report and/or commitment information.

SCOUTING REPORT

6/29/18 - Despite being an Arizona commit, Dicochea was a relatively under the radar prospect going in to the Area Code Tryout in June. That status was gone after one warm-up pitch when his lightning quick arm was put on display and he sat 90-92 mph with his fastball. We were able to see a start only a few week later and he was even better, sitting 89-91, touching 93 mph with the fastball and also showing a 76 mph curveball with tight rotation and real depth that projects as a future plus offering, already flashing average. While he doesn't have the prettiest arm action, with a significant stab on the back side, the arm speed renders it almost moot and he hasn't struggled with control either time we've seen him. With some broadness in his shoulders and a very thin lower half, Dicochea projects to add significant strength to his athletic, 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame. If MLB orgs can get past the arm action, we could be looking at a top-ten round draft next June.
