BORAS CLASSIC/ 3/14-3/17/18

Ismael Garcia Jr., 2019, RHP, Corona del Sol
The junior righty threw the ball well at our Preseason Trials event over the winter, touching the low 80's with a tight 11-5 curveball. We saw all the same traits on this day, but an improved fastball to go along with it. Garcia sat 82-84, touching 85 with an aggressive delivery. If there's another tick of velocity on the way we could be looking at a DI or certainly good Juco level prospect.

Bryan Webb, 2020, LHP, Corona del Sol
The young-bodied lefty continues to show advanced pitchability getting outs at the variety level without an overpowering fastball. He sat 76-78 on this day with signifiant arm side run, which represents a slight uptick from the winter. Webb pitched heavily off of his low 70's changeup on this day and was able to keep hitters off balance. He shows rare feel for the game, a sense of calm and control on the mound and does an excellent job controlling the run game. There should be plenty more size on the way for the sophomore that will give him the chance to add more veto to his already present pitchability. Committed to Grand Canyon shortly after this outing.

Ben Staiger, 2020, IF, Cinega
Impressive physical presence for a sophomore with solid present strength. Played second base on this day, but likely projects best to third if he continues to add mass to his frame. Shows plenty of arm to play on the left side. Showed ability to drive the baseball with authority, smoking a double off the wall with the type of strength you don't often see from sophomores. 4.68 on turn.
