Player of the Week: Austin Corbett

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

Welcome to our Arizona Player of the Week

Each week our PBR Arizona staff will choose a player of the week from our coverage throughout the previous week's AIA Coverage. This player will be chosen based on their performance or for particular reasons that set them apart from other players from around the state of Arizona. We will try to post our player of the week at the beginning of every week throughout the spring high school season.

Player of the Week

2021 OF AUSTIN CORBETT

2021 OF Austin Corbett of Horizon has been named your PBR Arizona- Player of the Week for  his performance during the second week of high school competition. Ultimately, he was nominated not only for his performance in week 2 but for what he's done in the 2021 season in Arizona thus far. Corbett is currently committed to Paradise Valley Community College.

Corbett is one of the leaders on a strong Horizon Huskies team that should be a contender in 5A this year. He's done nothing but produce to start the season for the Huskies in the key leadoff role. Corbett has a short swing with consistent feel for the barrel. Not one of the biggest guys around at 5-10/165-pounds but shows good athleticism and creates big pop coming out of the frame. He's also a plus runner that can track it in the OF with one of the strongest OF arms in the state. Offensively, Corbett has started the season 12 for 20 (.600) with 2 HRs & 2 3Bs, .700+ OBP. He has also scored 7 runs while batting 13 runners in. He was 5 for 7 this past week and has a hit in every game this season so far. Look for Corbett to continue to help guide this team to a hopeful state championship run in 5A.

We congratulate Austin Corbett from Horizon on being nominated our PBR Arizona- Player of the Week.
