PBR Arizona Operations

The PBR ProCase - West was an Invite Only event for the top draft prospect in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah’s 2024 and 2025 Classes that will feature a Pro-Style Workout with Live Game Play to follow at the University of Southern California on Sunday, June 4, 2023. This event will serve as the final identifier for the inaugural 2023 PBR All-American Game where the top 2024 and 2025 prospects from around the country will go head to head in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at American Family Field.

This event featured the complete Prep Baseball Report Tech Package that includes a Vizual Edge assessment, TrackMan Pitching / Hitting Analysis and Blast Motion In-Swing Analysis. The technology used at the PBR ProCase - West parallels the technology used by professional teams to monitor and evaluation performance within their own organizations and has become a streamlining feature in the evaluation of amateur athletes compared to players currently in their system.

We begin our PBR ProCase Highlight series with Arizona's No. 10 prospect in the 2024 class and Arizona State commit, Ky McGary.

Scouting Report

7/31/22

Ky McGary is one of Arizona's top outfielders and is showing he belongs there during his time in Georgia. His athletic ability was a major standout during the workout portion of the event. McGary jumped a 36 inch vertical, ran a 6.84 60 yard, and showed great arm strength from the OF hitting 93 mph which ranked #6 in the entire event. McGary has an above average hit tool, with a bat the covers the zone with line drive contact to all parts of the field. With the athletic ability, and the mature approach at the plate, McGary is showing he has a Power 5 skill set.

6/08/22

6-foot 160 pounds, wiry strength, room for added strength. Showed to be one of the top prospects at this event. (Running) 7.10 runner in the 60. Speed plays up around bases/in OF. (Offense) RH. Max EV 98. Max Dist. 351. Wide in stance, sunken into legs. Loose grip on the bat with hands rested at shoulder before starting swing. Uses a toe tap stride with a slight push forward off the back side. Some length with the hands is created early with load. Swing path is very direct and gets to the top half. High barrel consistency and adjustability. Advanced understanding for hitting at his age. Stays on balls very well to all parts of the field with great bat to ball skills. Direction with the body and hands is very good through center. (Defense) (OF) RH. OF velo 86. Very smooth actions in the OF. Approaches the ball confident and controlled. Lengthens out the arm, has some arm speed and good ball flight. Should see OF velo reach the 90’s with added strength. Throws were through the cut.

Game action: 1-2 1B, 2 BB
