2022s On The Rise
December 9, 2020
The 2022 Overall Rankings just got updated so The Hotlist is looking at juniors who are trending upward.
Dominic Chacon, OF, Horizon HS, AZ
In a normal year, Chacon would most likely have been off the board by now. As a member of Team Arizona at the 2020 Future Games, he had a solid performance across the board while going a bit under the radar due to the plethora of left-handed hitting outfielders at this year's event. Chacon shows significant upside in a wiry, athletic 6-foot-3, 185-pound build. He has a level, line-drive approach that started to show off power potential this fall. Defensively, he shows athletic active feet with quick jumps and reads off the bat. While he's not a burner, his length & awareness make up for it.
Carlos Gonzalez, RHP, Inwood Academy, NY
Gonzalez stands at physical 6-foot-4, 210 pounds and what from a virtual unknown this summer to the national spotlight. He works an easy 93-95 with spin rates that can peak northward of 2500 rpm. His hard curveball sits in the upper 70s and also features above-average spin. He also shows a power changeup, though he has a tendency to spike the pitch. Overall, his feel and command remains in development, but the frame and raw stuff are reason for excitement.
