#6 Corona Del Sol: Preseason Preview

Under the leadership of Coach Dave Webb, the Corona del Sol baseball team is gearing up for an exciting 2024 season. Following a solid 2023 campaign and losing one of the top arms in the state in Cole Carlon (ASU). The Aztecs have rebuilt and added strength to an already dominate lineup and pitching staff.

Recapping the 2023 Season: In the 2023 season, the Aztecs, under Coach Webb's guidance, posted an impressive 13-5 record and secured the top spot in the 6A Central Conference. The regular season success showcased the team's prowess and ability to navigate tough competition. However with two tough losses in the playoffs the Aztecs were eliminated earlier than expected. Despite the playoff setbacks in 2023, the Aztecs are determined to build on the lessons learned and improve their postseason performance in the upcoming 2024 season.

Returning Starters and Pitchers: With five returning starters and an equal number of pitchers, the Aztecs boast a balanced and experienced roster. This foundation provides the team with continuity and a level of familiarity that will be essential as they face off against tough competition in the Central Conference.

The Aztecs' roster is anchored by standout players who are expected to play pivotal roles in the upcoming season. Recent transfers bring additional strength to the team. Cooper Clouser, a catcher from the class of 2025, is set to bolster the team's offensive capabilities. His arrival adds depth to the catching position, providing a reliable presence behind the plate and in the box.
Ryan Caruso, a right-handed pitcher committed to Arizona State University, joins the Aztecs from the class of 2025. Caruso's commitment to the Sun Devils reflects his talent on the mound. His addition significantly strengthens the pitching staff, adding a versatile arm that could prove crucial in the 2024 season.

Zane Burns, a right-handed pitcher committed to Oklahoma State, is another recent transfer who brings a wealth of experience to the Aztecs. Burns' commitment to the Cowboys signifies his potential to make a substantial impact on the mound. With a repertoire of skills, Burns adds depth to the pitching rotation, contributing to the team's overall strength. The Aztecs are high profiled contenders for the 2024 AIA State Title.
