Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

TUSCALOOSA, AL - The Tuscaloosa Summer ID was held on Tuesday, July 9th at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, AL. This event was an open event hosting some talented prospects from the 2025-2029 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during a simulated bullpen and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we look at some of the top performers from the event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release quick hits articles, other various event leaderboards, individual scouting reports, and much more on each player present at the event.

Jacob Driver RHP / Marbury, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 218-pounds. Advanced physical strength with really strong lower-half. Former PBR Future Games alumni from last summer who has continued to make strides over the past year, which has resulted in a real jump in velocity. Easily the most impressive bullpen of the event, pumping 89-90 mph consistently with the fastball while reaching 90.5 mph. The fastball has good carry and life through the zone while spinning near the 2300 RPM mark and generating some natural arm-side run. Power right-handed arm who features a pair of quality secondary offerings that have continued to improve over the last year. One being a slider ranging 74-76 mph that now features more bite and horiztonal action to it, making it a real out-pitch. Possibly his best off-speed offering was an 80-84 mph splitter that showcased plenty of late drop and dive to it, and can be thrown off the fastball well. Uses his strength to his advantage while exploding down the mound with a strong lower-half. One of the top uncommitted pitchers in the 2025 class in Alabama.

Braydon Wright SS / Homeschool, AL / 2026

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 170-pounds. Lean, high-waisted build with well-rounded athleticism. A former PBR Jr. Future Games alumni and is currently ranked inside the top-25 in the 2026 class in Alabama. Possesses smooth, clean actions all-around and seems to play with a low-pulse and quiet confidence. Carries a professional right-handed approach to the plate while showing a good feel for the sweet spot during his round of BP. Consistently on the barrel with firm contact gap-to-gap and a top EV of 94.1 mph, third-best from the event. Early toe-tap load to get down on-time, and leads a clean barrel working on a mostly upward path through the zone. Silky-smooth defender at the shortstop position who projects to stay there in the future. Solid athlete who clocked a 7.19 60-yard dash, as well. High-level follow with the August 1st recruiting date quickly approaching.

Ellis Hamiter SS / Tuscaloosa Academy, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 161-pounds. Athletic frame with some scattered strength and room to add in the future. Coming off a noteworthy spring where he was named to Class 2A 1st-Team All-State. Well-rounded prospect with good actions to everything he does. Hits from an athletic right-handed stance with a strong base. Utilizes a controlled stride for timing trigger to be on-time. Shows the ability to work more short-to-long while spraying firm contact to all fields throughout his round of BP and posting a top EV of 97.1 mph, second-best from the event. Has good balance throughout his swing while showcasing a more line-drive approach. Clean defender who has the versatility to play numerous positions on the dirt while showing solid footwork during the defensive workout. Another quality uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class in Alabama.

Gibbs White RHP / 3B / Tuscaloosa County, AL / 2027

Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 178-pounds. Lean, long-levered frame with sizable projection. Notable two-way prospect who can swing it from the right side of the plate, but showed in this look he may hold more upside as a right-handed pitcher. Possesses a long, loose right-handed stroke with good arm speed that produced a fastball sitting mostly 84-85 mph and touching 86 mph with arm-side run and sinking action when located to the bottom of the zone. Good feel for spin on a hard-biting breaking ball ranging 70-73 mph with spin rates peaking near 2550 RPM. Showcases 11-5 shape with plenty of depth to it. Can also turn over a quality changeup at 75-78 mph with typical fading action to it. Moves well down the mound with some athleticism. Should hold more velocity as he continues to develop and mature into his frame. Also a gap-to-gap hitter from the right side of plate with quick hands. Quality rising sophomore prospect to follow.

Ford Traweek SS / RHP / Tuscaloosa County, AL / 2026

Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 159-pounds. Slim, wiry build with solid athleticism and long, projectable levers. Mulit-sport athlete who is also a talented guard on the hardwood. Another noteworthy two-way prospect who performed well in multiple facets during the workout, including on the mound. Rhythmic right-handed operation who creates significant separation during his load with controlled aggression. Looks to drive to the pull-side with plenty of intent during the swing and did so during his round of BP while showing good bat and hand speed. Also a rangy defender at shortstop with bounce. Also impressive as a right-handed pitcher, sitting 83-85 mph and touching 87 mph on his final pitch of his bullpen. Athletic delivery with fairly low-effort intent and long, loose arm. Spins a tight slider at 71-73 mph with horizontal shape and spin rates near 2400 RPM and flashed a diving changeup at 71-75 mph as his third offering. Plenty of intriguing traits on both sides of the ball for this talented uncommitted prospect in the 2026 class in Alabama.

Will Clark OF / Briarwood Christian, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 197-pounds. Impressive strength to build with quality athleticism to pair. Another former PBR Future Games alumni and one of the top-ranked uncommitted outfielders in the 2025 class in Alabama. Balanced right-handed setup with an early stride for timing trigger that allows him to be on-time. Gap-to-gap hitter with power to all fields and above-average bat speed allows him to impact the baseball at a high-level when he squares it up. Inside-out swing allows him to drive the ball to the opposite field with some authority and posted a top EV of 97.4 mph, the best from the event. A previous sub 7.0-runner with athleticism that translates to the outfield, where he can cover plenty of grass with good range and above-average arm strength to the plate. Another multi-sport athlete who plays football. Name-to-know uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class in Alabama who shouldn't be on the board for too much longer.

Bentley Smith RHP / 3B / Douglas, AL / 2028

Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 188-pounds. Good present strength to his build with room to add down the road. Already making a strong case to being one of the top prospects in the 2028 class in Alabama after starring on his varsity team this past spring as an eighth-grader. Notable two-way prospect with abilities on both sides of the ball. Simple right-handed operation with not much wasted movement to his swing. Short and direct to contact and uses a level path to the baseball with strength at the point of contact. Showcases good feel for the barrel and using the whole field while posting a top EV of 88.1 mph during his round of BP. Also pitching 81-82 mph on the mound with his fastball, showing solid command for the pitch and living in the strike zone. Spins a hard-biting curveball with downer 11-5 shape at 72-74 mph and spin rates ranging 23-2400 RPM. Also flashed a 75-76 mph changeup with fade. Repeatable operation with quick arm and strike-throwing ability. Quality prospect to keep tabs on over the next couple of years.

Gunnar Hobson SS / Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 142-pounds. Slim, wiry frame with some twitch and athleticism. Size and metrics may not jump off the page, but definitely appears to be a prospect who can help win a ton of baseball games after serving as the starting shortstop this spring for the Class 6A champions. Line-drive approach hitting from the right side of the plate with excellent feel for the sweet spot of the barrel. Consistent firm contact to all fields during his round of BP. Utilizes a toe-tap trigger for timing and rotates through contact well. Bouncy defender with good footwork and a reliable glove at shortstop. Accurate arm on throws across the diamond during the defensive workout. Could move to second base in the future. Well-rounded player who is another quality uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class in Alabama.
