TUSCALOOSA, AL - The Tuscaloosa Summer ID was held on Tuesday, July 9th at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, AL. This event was an open event hosting some talented prospects from the 2025-2029 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during a simulated bullpen and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at all of the position players that were in attendance. Check back tomorrow as wrap up our coverage of the event by taking a look at all of the pitchers that threw a simulated bullpen.

Charlie Hamric, Hoover (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: RHP/C
Body: 5-6, 155-pounds. Shorter, compact frame. Still developing.
Hit: RHH. Balanced stance with the feet, hands set lower in the stance. Level bat path, pull side approach. Stays through contact well. 56.4 mph bat speed with 7 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 73 max exit velocity, averaged 63.8 mph. 190’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 54.00 mph. Lower 3/4 slot, developing arm strength.

Jackson Carmichael, Bessemer Academy (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Proportional frame with some present strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Open setup with the feet, small toe tap trigger. Hands work directly to contact, numerous line drives to the middle of the field. 59.6 mph bat speed with 5 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 75.5 mph. 277’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83.00 mph. OTT slot, accurate throws to the 1B bag.
Defense: Clean footwork, aggressive to balls off the bat. Works well through the ball.

Will Durrett, AMERICAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-7, 150-pounds. Athletic build, has plenty of room to add size/strength.
Hit: RHH. Hands set back in the stance, feet are balanced. Present bat speed. Mostly level bat path, pull side approach. 68.1 mph bat speed with 22 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 77.2 mph. 296’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 67.00 mph. Higher 3/4 slot with some arm strength.
Defense: 2.15-2.34 pop times. Athletic actions with looseness in the hips. Clean transfer.

Gunnar Hobson, Hillcrest High School (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: SS
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds. Compact frame with present strength. Can add size/strength.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open with the feet, toe tap trigger. Middle of the field approach, hands work directly to contact. Advanced approach. 65.6 mph bat speed with 17 G’s of rotational acceleration.

Hit: RHH. Narrow setup with the feet, simple toe tap trigger. Tilted bat path with power to all fields. Keeps the barrel through the hitting zone. 72.3 mph bat speed with 16 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 85.9 mph. 279’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 85.00 mph. Higher 3/4 slot, low arm stroke.
Defense: Aggressive working to the ball and stays through the throw very well. Solid fundamentally.

Riggins Rogers, Spain Park (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-8, 150-pounds. Shorter, compact frame. Leaner build.
Hit: RHH. Feet started slightly open with the hands set low in the stance. Solid barrel control handling balls in all quadrants of the zone. 61.8 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
