Mizuno Player of the Week: Week 6

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.
Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Wednesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Walker was dominant at the plate this past week, posting some video-game numbers and being a big source of offense for the Bulldogs. A switch-hitter, the North Alabama recruit is a threat to leave the yard once he steps in the box and proved that this past week. For the week, the senior switch-hitter posted a .611 batting average (11-for-18) with four doubles, four home runs, 11 runs batted in, and five walks in the heart of their order. In addition to his efforts at the plate, the backstop also threw out 50% (3/6) of base stealers on the week. |
