Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.

Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Wednesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week. 

 

Mizuno Week 1 Pitcher of the Week

Logan Moller RHP / Chelsea, AL / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 61 / POS: 18 Returning as the ace of the Hornets' pitching staff this spring after a strong junior campaign, Moller looks well on his way to another strong season on the mound and has been named the Mizuno Pitcher of the Week for Week 1. A Tennessee Tech recruit and a top-65 prospect in the 2024 class in AL, the right-hander starter a pair of games on opening week against a talented Class 7A and Class 6A program and fired back-to-back shutouts in each of his outings. In his first start on opening night of the Prep Baseball Alabama Kickoff Classic, Moller went 4 IP, H, 0 R, 3 BB, & 7 K's, then turned around on Saturday and tossed 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, & 10 K's. Combining those outings together, the right-hander went 10 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, & 17 K's to kick-off his senior season. Expect Moller to once again be a key piece for the Hornets on the mound this spring.
